Chapter 6 - A Visit for Matt

Start from the beginning

"What is that?" Matt asked in surprise as he looked directly up.

"That's the house," Zackary said. "It's what Greg calls a bridge house cause most of it's built like a bridge."

"Where do we get in?" Matt asked looking at the structure which was obviously still under construction.

"Follow the path to the other side. The foot print for the house is vagely like a U or a lopsided, flat bottomed V," Greg told him. "There are entrances on the bottom level on both arms of the U on the back side."

Matt followed where his brother led, and sure enough the path led up again into a relatively open space surrounded by the house. Here they stopped while each of them surveyed the outside and Matt surveyed the valley as well.

"This was the second valley, wasn't it?" he realized as he took in where they stood.

"Yes. The house sits atop the transition zone between the two," Greg said.

Meanwhile Zackary was looking more closely at the house  itself rather than where it was sitting. "They've got that plastic stuff on almost the whole thing," he remarked.

"And there are windows in the living room now," Greg said. "I also see the roof over two of the guest rooms taking shape."

The three of them walked around the outside of the building inspecting everything and discovered that the side of the southern guest wing facing the hill with the oak trees was now covered with some additional material, and attached to some of that was what looked like stacked stone, approximately the same color as the surrounding natural sandstone.

"They're covering it with rocks!" Zackary said in surprise.

"Yes. They look like the ones we chose," Greg said.

"Like the ones at the church?" Zackary remembered.

"Yes. Do they look right to you?" Greg asked.

Zackary inspected the section that was mostly finished, except for around the windows.

"I think so, except they're a different color than the ones at the church," he said. "This is so weird, Greg. Those rocks make the wall look like it's part of the hill."

"That was precisely my intent," Greg told him. "What do you think Matt?"

"This looks huge. Is it?" he asked.

"I'll let you be the judge of that. This structure is actually three in one. In addition to the actual house, we have also included two wings designed for guests. We're calling them 'hotel wings' because the rooms in them are set up like hotel rooms. My intent is to have a place for visitors to stay that is every bit as comfortable as it would be if they stayed at a hotel," Greg explained.

"That's a good idea," Matt said. "So these hotel wings ... are they separate from the actual house?"

"To a degree. There are three rooms of that sort on each side. We'll look at these first so you can see what I mean," Greg said.

They entered the nearest of the hotel-style guest rooms at the end of the southern wing and Matthew observed that for bedrooms, they were very large.
