On that day, seeing the baby taking care of the babies, I wanted to kidnap the royal painter and threaten him to paint the scene.

'He’s already painted several portraits because of the Marquise of Vaslane.'

The Marquise of Vaslane loved the children to the point of asking for a portrait of the twins as a birthday present.

“How can Vanessa look so much like Isidore when he was young? Look at those long eyelashes like the wings of a butterfly! She is like an angel. And I’ve never seen a manly and dignified child like Barres. I think he will become a big figure who shakes the empire in the future.”

Everyone couldn't honestly say that Barres had a fierce look, and said in an indirect way that he looked dignified.

'The problem is that Barres has a face like that and his personality isn't Seymour at all.'

It's because he has no expression and his eyes are ferocious. But the first one was he's very timid and has a gentle heart that can't kill even a single insect.

For some reason, because of Barres' cold impression, I thought that he would be misunderstood a lot later like me.

'Well, misunderstandings aren't necessarily bad.'

Sometimes that misunderstanding can be comfortable and good.

I looked at Barres, who was wearing a crooked hat with a smile on his face.

“The hat should be worn straight like this.”

“Yes. Like this?”

“Like this.”

“Me too!”

While I was fixing Barres' fedora, Vanessa, who was standing next to me, deliberately turned her hat around in a strange way and ran to the stairs.
_____‘Fedora’ here is a bowler hat; a type of soft-brimmed felt hat. It is a gentleman’s hat with a rounded brim that is worn by pressing the top in the middle.

“Vanessa!  Where are you going?”

Vanessa's ambition to start playing tag in the hallway before going out was immediately thwarted when Isidor caught her.

“You naughty girl.”

“Daddy! The hat! No—!”

Isidor’s mischief was no less playful as he snatched Vanessa’s hat with a red flower hanging from it and placed it high on the window sill.

Isidore, who smiled at Vanessa, who was jumping like a rabbit to grab her hat, quickly returned the hat at the perfect timing right before she exploded.

“The flower hat is mine!”

"Yes. It's Vanessa’s."

"Hmph! I am! I will be bigger than a Dragon!"

"Daddy will give you a ride on the shoulder. You could get bigger right now.”

“Kyaa!”

He carried the pouting Vanessa right onto his shoulder. As soon as the field of view rose, the child immediately screamed in excitement.

“Would Barres like me to do to you, too?”

I squeezed Barres’ hand, who was shaking his head, and followed Isidore, who was leading the way, to the place where the carriage was.

My Visconti family went out for the first time in a while.

When the children were small, it was a little burdensome to go far, but now I was thrilled to be able to go on a picnic.

The carriage traversed Visconti's townhouses for a long time before entering a private estate with a large lake.

“Kyaaaa!”

As soon as she got out of the carriage, Vanessa ran excitedly through the forest, while Barres sat still and admired the surroundings, perhaps impressed by the mirror-like lake reflecting the landscape.

They're twins, so how can their personalities be so different?  It was surprising and amazing every time.

It was then.

“Vanessaaa!”

Seeing his younger sister who fell on her butt while climbing a tree, Barres hurriedly ran after her, and he also fell down and rolled across the lawn.

“Brother!  Nooo!”

Vanessa called him anxiously while shaking Barres who was lying face down.”

“Wake up!”

“……”

Seeing that scene, I eventually burst into laughter.

“It’s not that he can’t get up, but I think he can’t get up because he’s embarrassed…”

It wouldn't hurt that much from falling on a soft and fluffy place, but it was very cute to see them filming a Shinpa drama by themselves.
_____‘Shinpa drama’ here means a popular play about the customs of the times, love, and sad stories. It has the same meaning as soap opera; melodrama.

They have opposite personalities, but when you see them like that, they are very friendly.

“By the way, didn't Vanessa just call you brother for the first time?”

“I heard. It’s a historic day.”

"Daddy!"

Isidore hugs Barres, who is wriggling in a prone state.

Perhaps he was sad because he was embarrassed to roll three times, Barres, who had become covered in grass, sobbing as soon as he was held in his father's arms.

"Crybaby...."

As if it had never happened, Vanessa immediately abandoned the title of brother and focused on climbing the tree again.

After playing to their heart's content, the children who ate all the sandwiches and fruits they had brought in the picnic basket started to doze off with sleepy eyes.

The first fell asleep, using Isidore's thigh as a pillow, and Vanessa buried her face in the hem of my dress and exhaled lightly.

Perhaps because of the warm body temperature of the children, the warmth spread from my body as well.  Every time the sound of their breath reached my eardrum, one side of my chest tickled.

Today, it felt like this calmness and peace were clearly engraved in my senses.  And I will be grateful again. To my affectionate companion who builds a warm and harmonious family together.

“Here, lie down.”

Isidore tapped his hard arm.

With his arm as my pillow, I looked at the blue sky where the flock of clouds slowly drifted by.

“… Good. I’m happy.”

As I casually muttered, Isidore responded affectionately.

“Me too… I am happy.”

A gentle, tickling breeze passes between the two of us.

It was a spring day as sweet as a bite full of cotton candy.

End.
