"Fire follows Lacey everywhere," Cora laughed while Lacey mimicked her and her rolled her eyes except she couldn't help but smile. Buck looks at the two of them joke with each other, their energy bouncing off one another as they were a perfect mix for each other. He wished he had a friend as close as that.

"Well lucky you know a firefighter," He smiles as he looks into Cora's eyes as she smiles back at him. The alarm suddenly sounds through the fire building gaining everyones attention and even scaring a few unfocused people.

"I'll see you later," Cora says to Lacey before quickly making her way to her locker to change into her uniform. Her boots are heavy as she runs to the fire engine and clambers inside the back sitting next to Buck.

Cora looked at Lacey who was sat on a nurses chair typing away on her phone not in any rush to leave despite being alone, she gets a weird feeling to look at her own phone which sits in her pocket.

A message pops up from Lacey and Cora grins to herself, Please tell me why you aren't trying to get with Evan?? He's got heart eyes for you I can tell.

She shakes her head but quickly puts her phone back into her pocket so that Buck won't see the message. Cora could hear the message in her head in Laceys voice as if she were in the truck.

"What you shaking your head at?" Buck asks looking down at her slightly with a small grin simply just from hers.

"Oh...Lacey, she just said that she's going to stay at the station a little longer till the smoke clears," She smiles and he laughs his head tilting down slighty and Cora can't help but just think about him... she couldn't ever date him. He was her work partner and there was no way he would ever look at her that way.

"How come Lacey doesn't come round more often?" He asks and Cora felt a knot in her stomach. Lacey was always the prettier one, the ones guys talked to at the bar while she held her purse but she didn't blame her.

"If she isn't baking, she painting and if she's not painting she's probably volunteering at a school or something else," Cora smiled thinking about her friend.

"She seems cool," Buck says but before he can say anything the truck pulls in. Cora climbs out first and squints as she see's the sign for the zoo.

"We're at a zoo?" Buck questions jumping out and standing between Hen and Cora.

"A loose animal I think," Hen says before beginning to walk quickly into the zoo where people were running out from.

"What do you think it is?" Buck asks excited while moving around the people rushing out of the entrance.

Cora looked around, "Definitely not a giraffe," She says wincing after an elbow hits her arm.

All three of them quickly stop in their tracks as a tiger slowly approached them, its slow walk still scaring the life out of the child in his mothers arms running past, "Thats definitely not a giraffe," Buck laughs and Hen shakes her head.

"What are we meant to do?" Cora asked looking at the two of her friends unsure of the plan but in a second the tiger falls to the ground and Cora throws her hands up in the air before the fall hitting her sides.

Shes the first to move walking closer towards the tiger, crouching down to the unconscious animal. She sees the dart in its stomach meaning it was only asleep, "What are they gonna do to it?" Buck asks standing above her.

Cora sighed her hands lightly stroking the animals stomach before somebody can tell her not to, "Put her down," She mumbles her head titling feeling sympathy for the animal that had never felt freedom in its life and was going to die trapped.

"Come on," Buck said quietly placing a light hand on her back and she stands up. Hen was already helping a man with scratch marks along his arm, while men were already come to sort out the tiger.

Cora and Buck both give each other an unreadable look before checking the rest of the zoo for anymore injured people or possible escaped animals. Nothing.

Eventually the three of them were on their way back to the station, "Hey I'm having everyone round on Saturday I was wondering if you'd want to come?" Cora asked Buck as they sat facing each other.

Buck looked at Cora for a moment, "I'll come," He nodded with a smile, "Is it for anything special?" He asks with interest.

Cora smiled faintly, "No," She answered but Buck shook his head.

"Yes it is," He smirks, "What is it?" He questions with curiosity but Cora shakes her head looking in his eyes questioning whether to tell him or not.

"You haven't told anyone else have you?" He says and Cora shakes her head. She sighs, "If I tell you- don't tell anyone else," Buck nods in agreement.

"It's my birthday," She almost mumbles it and he laughs.
Her eyes shoot daggers at him but it doesn't stop his laugh.

"Come on you're what, you're only like thirty five?" He jokes laughing his head tilted but Cora wasn't laughing. She shook her head but couldn't help but laugh with him.

"I'm sure we're the same age!" She cries with a wide smile which Buck couldn't help but glance at with a weird feeling in the pit of his stomach.

"You're secrets safe with me," Cora's eyes can't help but pour into his for a second until the fluttering feeling in chest made her look out the window.
