Kathryn was walking on the cobbled street, it was dark out and there was only silence and crickets. "Tsk. Why does it have to be night already.." she muttered to herself. A stranger walked over, he was tall but pale.
"Hey miss, it is almost midnight. Why are you out in the street at night?" he asked.
Kathryn scoffed, "Are you not doing the same thing? And if you must know, I am walking home."
"Oh sorry ma'am," he bowed slightly in sarcasm, "I did not know you had the right to walk at night!" he replied, laughing.
"Very funny," Kathryn rolled her eyes.
"Thank you. My name is Jaxon by the way," Jaxon said, "and you are?"
"Kathryn. Kathryn Jones of House Ralin," she answered without hesitation.
"Oh, formal are we Lady Kathryn!" he playfully bowed again and walked backwards beside her.
"Ah. You know me now. I am a Lady," she smiled, it looked more like a smirk.
"Indeed, you are a Lady. Now where is your lord?" Jaxon jokes.
"I do not need a lord, men are incompetent fools that try to control women," Kathryn huffed.
"Hey! Watch who you are talking to, I am a man!" he winked, laughing his head off.
"Oh, bug off," she signaled with her hand for him to go away.
Jaxon ignored her hand gesture and asked, "Will you at least let me escort you to your manor?"
She sighed, "Fine." They walked for a while, a fog started to float in as they reached the edge of town. Kathryn coughed, and tried to fan the fog away so she could see. Jaxon watched her movements slow down as she tried her best to avoid running into anything on the street.
"Something feels off about this fog.." he muttered, before having a small coughing fit.
"You are right," replied Kathryn, "are you sick?" She stopped and turned around, both of them struggling to breath now.
"No? Wait, I do not think this is fog.." he gasped, "this is poison!" Then he fell to the ground heavily. Kathryn stood in shock and then collapsed too, everything went black.
Kathryn woke up slowly, it felt like her head was underwater. "Agh.. my head," Kathryn groaned, "I think I hit it when I fell." She tried to reach her head and realized she couldn't move her limbs. She blinked and adjusted her eyes to the dim lighting, she noticed she was in a small, cobblestone room, a candle in a sconce burned weakly next to a door. She heard Jaxon groan and wake up, but could not see him, she assumed he was behind her, she looked at her legs and saw they were bound up in rope. She loosened up the rope and was able to pull her leg up, and there she grabbed her knife from its sheath with her mouth and dropped it behind her. She caught it, only barely cutting her finger, and cut herself out easily, she then stood up and brushed off her dress. "Where in Terrestris am I?"
(Similar to this but with a door, an old desk, and a table. No chairs)

"Uh," Jaxon hesitated, "are you not going to free me?"
"What? You do not have a dagger strapped to your leg?" she took it out again, and started cutting the rope around his legs and wrists.
"No... I do not carry weapons," he stood up after being freed and rubbed his wrists. "Dang those were tight," he muttered.
"A male not possessing a weapon? How strange!" she joked while sliding her dagger back into its sheath.
"Oh shut up," he snorted, "like it is any more rare to see a woman with a dagger."
"It is for my safety, I am not helpless," she said firmly, "let us stop and find a way out of here."
"Um, what about the door?" he pointed out.
Kathryn walked over and tried the handle, "Locked."
"Does it have a keyhole?"
She checked, "Nope."
"Then what will we do?" he sighed hopelessly.
"Be quiet! I am trying to figure that out," she said with frustration in her tone. She searched the room, walking up to a wooden desk in the corner. She turned to Jaxon and asked, "Do you think there is anything useful in here?"
"I do not know, you find out," Jaxon scoffed, folding his arms and looking away. Kathryn tsked and opened one of the desk's drawers, inside were multiple old papers that were unorganized. She searched through the papers, trying to find something useful.
"Women are so rude these days," he muttered.
"Excuse me? You are the one not helping. I only want to get out of here before we find out who kidnapped us," she scoffed, opening the second drawer. Jaxon huffed, pacing the room in thought. Kathryn continued to search each drawer, filing through the papers. "Well this is interesting," Kathryn stated, pulling out a paper.
"What is it?" Jaxon asked.
"It is a paper about my public information!" she exclaimed.
"Oh, well you are pretty much known to the public," he shrugged, unbothered by it.
"I know but.. It is still a bit odd how it ended up in a room we are locked in."
"I guess you are right. I would freak out if you found a paper about me."
"Well let me see what I can find." Kathryn rummaged through the drawers, there were lots of papers with names of people. She furrowed her brow and took out a paper. "Your name is Jaxon right?" she asked.
"Yeah? What about my name?" Kathryn held out the paper and Jaxon grabbed it. He read the name on it and then quickly went through the rest of the paper. He laughed, "That is not me, it is some fancy sir. There is even a date of death!"
"Oh, an old paper? No wonder it is so yellow and torn on the edges," she mumbled in thought, "Yeah, this is not gonna help with anything, it is just a desk full of papers with people, alive and dead."
"Yeah, maybe look for a hidden compartment?" Jaxon suggested.
She shook her head, "This is not a story, this is real life. But if you think there will be a compartment besides these drawers, be my guest." They both searched for hours around the room, but nothing seemed to hint at any way out. They sat in frustration and thought of ideas, sharing them occasionally to each other. Kathryn's idea was to break a table leg off, or use her knife, and wait behind the door for someone to come through, and then capture them and escape. Jaxon's idea is to smash the door open and run for it, for the door is made of wood, but it was very solid wood.
I don't know what to do with this anymore, any ideas? Or should I just stop the story here?
