Game on

MK kept dying on the final boss, the Rhino King. He grew frustrated as he tried and tried again and again, but not getting any damage in.

"This is ridiculous!" He threw his headset off his eyes, making it bounce across the room. Y/N had to duck several times in order to not get hit. Mei wasn't so lucky, as the headset hit the couch, making Mei fall face-first into the floor, waking her up. "The Wukong Flaming Fist of Fury is the strongest move in the game, but how am I supposed to use it if that Rhino demon keeps beating the snot out of me before I can execute it!" Y/N watched as MK threw a tantrum, frantically waving his arms around. Sandy walked over to Mei, putting the couch back in its original position.

"Okay, this looks like a good place to stop. You've been playing for 32 straight hours."

Y/N almost choked on their own saliva. '32 hours straight!? How did time fly by so fast!?' They thought, staring at MK incredulously.

"Stop. Now. Never. I just have to try harder." MK said, as flames erupted in his eyes, showing his passion about winning.

"It's just like the Monkey King said." He laughed. "I just need to get stronger!"

"Except, he never said that. He said, 'the wise warrior leads his enemy into their own destruction.'" Mei said, a blanket wrapped around her as she stood.

"Maybe what he's saying is, the strongest move isn't always the rightest move." Sandy advised, as MK looked at him, pleadingly.

"Then what is the rightest move?"

"Remember, not every opponent can be beaten with brute strength, do you want to learn a counter attack?" The annoyed Monkey King sprite said, making MK gasp.

"'The wise warrior leads his enemy into their own destruction.' Hold on! Go with me here! I think I got something! Maybe I need to use the Rhino King's own strength against him!" Y/N looked at him boredly, while Mei looked irritated.

"Hey yea! Almost like the tutorial king was trying to tell you this whole time." She said, her voice laced with sarcasm. MK threw the headset into the air, looking forward with confidence as it landed back on his face. He went back into the game store, purchasing the Wukong's 100-18,000 summersault.

He went back to the Rhino King level, ready to win. When the Rhino King used his headbutt of hatred, MK used the move he had just purchased, dodging the Rhino King's attack. The Rhino King hit the wall, making him open for an attack. Mei, Y/N and Sandy cheered MK on, as MK used the move.

"Wukong.." He started to use the move himself, making Y/N quickly scramble behind the couch for what was to come, covering their ears and closing their eyes.

"Flaming Fist.. Of FURRY!" An explosion erupted on the side of the hut, blowing through the wall. Y/N uncovered their ears, opening one eye as they looked around, before peaking behind the couch. They saw a hole through the wall of the hut, and sighed.

MK could never stay out of trouble.

Sandy, Mei, Y/N and MK hammered the last planks of wood to the wall. There were oblivious holes where the light from outside came through.

"So did you learn what you needed to?" Sandy asked, turning to MK.

"Yeah! That and then some!" MK jumped to the middle of the room, before posing. "You're right Sandy! The strongest move, isn't always the bestest!" He lifted one of his legs up into the air, hoping backward, before jumping onto the wooden couch, sighing. Y/N followed him, sitting down beside him and rubbing their own arm.

"But it is the best at blowing holes through stuff though!" Sandy said, as they all laughed. Y/N smiled as they looked at MK. It was nice seeing him not stressed out about the LDB incident.

"Really I'm fine!"

"No, kid! You need new bandages every night or else your wounds could get infected. Besides, I don't think you would want to be walking around with bloody bandages around your arms" Y/N pouted at the shadow Monkey, as he looked at Y/N with a stern look.

"But it hurts." Y/N groaned, laying down on the bed the two were sitting on.

"Well, that's what happens when you get seriously injured, trust me. The more you do it, the more you'll get used to it." Macaque unraveled some of bandages on Y/N's arms, making Y/N squirm. "Don't make me use the shadow clones to pin you down so I can put these on you." He warned, as Y/N huffed. Macaque smirked, grabbing fresh bandages and wrapping them around Y/N's leg first. "Great job, little shadow." He praised, slightly tightening the bandages. Y/N looked at him curiously, though he did not meet his gaze.

"Little shadow? That's a new one."

"Just something I came up with. Give me your right arm." Y/N complied, holding out his own right arm, and pulling back his sleeve. As Y/N stared at Macaque, who was wrapping his arm in bandages, Y/N remembered the scroll from Monkey King's hut.

"Oh! Speaking of new-" Macaque looked at Y/N, about to tighten the bandages. "I saw this... Note... Thing, that said something about someone called, uhh, what was their name? Oh yea, ӾɆ₦JɄ." Macaque's eyes widened at the name, as he accidently tugged on the bandages, tightening them too tight. Y/N yelped, and grabbed their arm, pulling it from Macaque's grasp, rubbing it. "What was that for?" Y/N mumbled, wincing from the pressure he applied. Macaque stared at Y/N, shocked. He didn't think he would have to hear that name again.

"W-Where did you hear that from?" He asked, making Y/N look at him.

"I told you, it was in a note I saw in Monkey King's hut." Macaque shakily sighed, grabbing his head.

"T-That's a story for another time." He quickly grabbed the child's arm again, finishing with the bandages, before jumping off the bed. He walked to the door, then paused, turning over to her. "Well, gotta go. G'night." He soon left, making Y/N stare at where he once was, confused at why he left so abruptly. Y/N shrugged before getting into bed, closing their eyes and falling asleep.
