My memory is blank as I lift my head from the cool, glass countertop. A gentleman with a cold gaze sits across from me. I fold my hands neatly in my lap after situating myself neatly on the barstool. I look subtly down at his clean hands as they sit idly on the glass countertop. I glance up at the gentleman, and a barely noticeable smile spreads across his face. His wavy, ivory hair frames his face nicely. He clears his throat, preparing to speak. "You were unconscious for a good while." His voice is warm, almost welcoming, unlike his icy stare. A shiver crawls down my spine. His beautiful lilac eyes search my face, taking every scar, freckle, and detail.

I open my mouth to speak, but I'm interrupted. "Don't speak. Your throat may be sore." I speak anyway. "Who are you, and where am I?" Just as my sentence finishes, my throat becomes sore enough to make speaking a herculean task. "Told you so." His face twists into a wry, almost smug, smile. I look around the dimly lit room. The smell of sage is strong, but I can't tell where it's coming from. There's warm light coming from further forward. Is this a shop? It certainly doesn't smell like one. My attention is drawn back to the gentleman as he reaches forward and grabs my hand with the gentleness of a butterfly and faces it palm-up. He runs his fingers lightly over my hand. His fingers reach the middle of my palm, and I curl my fingers in. "Hm. Interesting." He mumbles
"This line says you're outgoing, but you're actually quite shy." He looks at me with his gorgeous lilac eyes. Naturally, I shy away from his gaze. I hear a chuckle escape his throat, and I scoff. I yank my hand from his chilled hand and set it back into my lap.
