"Jinah! Do you want to go to the carnival with me? I bought tickets already." Momo asked immediately after Jinah picked up the phone, voice as cheerful as always.
"Well, hello to you too, Momo." Jinah answered with a small chuckle in her words, this type of request not out of the ordinary for her friend. "When do you want to go? I'll check my work schedule."
"Are you free tonight? If not then whenever you can. I do have to work tomorrow though." Momo spoke, hoping that Jinah would be up to going with her tonight.
"Yeah I'm down to go tonight. How about say, five o'clock?" She answered, eyes moving to the clock which read three o'clock. That should give her enough time to get ready.
"Sounds good. Make sure you look cute for all the pictures we'll be taking. See you then!!" Momo said excitedly with a small giggle escaping her lips as she hung up the phone.
"Cute? Pictures? Wow, Momo, you already hung up." Jinah said to herself, sighing. She knew Momo had something up her sleeve but decided to just go with it. What could go wrong?
Just about two hours later, after Jinah had showered, changed, and done herself up a little fearing what Momo would do if she didn't, there was a knock at her apartment's door.
"Coming!" Jinah called to the door, speed walking to open it, presumably for her best friend, to which she would have been correct. "Right on time as usual. I'm almost ready." She said as she let Momo in and went to finish getting ready. Momo made herself at home in Jinah's apartment as she always did, sitting herself on the couch in the living room and pulling out her phone to wait for Jinah.
"Okay, I'm ready now. Why are we taking pictures at a carnival?" Jinah asked afer walking out towards her friend from the hallway. Momo looked up from her phone and the smile that was displayed on her face held a hint of mischief in it. She stood from her seat on the couch, taking a step out from it.
"For memories, of course." Momo said with probably the worst poker face Jinah had ever seen but she did not pry, figuring that she'd know in due time what her best friend was scheming. "Alright let's go! It's not going to wait for us to get there to open." Momo responded, linking her arm into Jinah's and leading them out of the apartment. The ride to the carnival was a blast, Jinah having the aux cord. The two girls laughed and sang all the way there, eventually reaching their destination already pumped up for the night to begin.
When they were walking into the carnival grounds, Momo appeared to be looking for someone, but again, Jinah brushed off the suspicions she had.
"What should we do first?" Jinah asked after the duo had gotten into the grounds and were roaming around. Momo thought for a moment before speaking, her eyes darting to the large arcade set up in the middle of everything.
"Let's go play some arcade games and then we can get some food. Sound good?" She asked, gaze falling back to Jinah who nodded in agreement before they made their way to the arcade. There were a lot of different things to do in the area, so Jinah figured they'd be there for a while. She was pulled out of her thoughts when she heard Momo speak again, this time her voice boisterous and echoing through the large open room.
"Oh my god, Binnie? What luck seeing you here!" She said, Jinah realizing that she did indeed know that her boyfriend, Seo Changbin, would be here solely by the tone of her voice. It was painfully sarcastic, and apparently it was just as painful to him by the eye roll he responded with.
"Your sarcasm needs work, Mo." He commented lightheartedly, earning him a look from Momo. Jinah just snickered, the two's banter always amusing her. Momo cleared her throat and looked at Jinah and then to the boy standing beside Changbin.
"So Changbin, who's your friend?" She asked. Momo knew exactly who this stranger was, but she decided to let Changbin introduce him. An almost unnoticable sigh left the man before he started to speak.
"Jinah, this is Felix. Felix, Jinah." He answered, the one Jinah now knew as Felix showing her a pretty smile as he extended a hand to her.
"Nice to meet you, Jinah." Felix greeted her politiley, his accent thick. Jinah shook his hand, returning with a smile of her own, only hers was a bit more nervous than his.
"Same to you, Felix." she said, trying to hide her awkwardness. Jinah had a bit of anxiety when it came to meeting new people, and it didn't help that Felix wasn't half bad looking. Who was she kidding? Felix was extremely attractive, but she tried pushing those feelings of attraction to the side as she had just met this guy. Jinah stepped away, taking her place again at Momo's side.
"So, who wants to fail miserably at these games?" Jinah joked, making the others break into laughter.
"They rig them. They have to. But its still fun to see if you can beat them." Momo said honestly, wrapping her arm around her boyfriend's shoulders. Jinah and Felix both had the same reaction to the girl's actions, rolling their eyes as if in sync. When it was noticed, the four of them began to laugh again.
"Okay okay, lets just go do something besides standing here." Changbin said bluntly, causing the others to nod, and Momo took her boyfriend's hand and the two of them headed over to the ring toss game nearby. Felix and Jinah looked at each other and then followed the couple, not knowing what else to do.
"Guess we should like do carnival things?" Felix suggests sun a shrug.
"Sure," Jinah says with a slightly nervous smile.
Felix points out a game and starts walking toward it. Jinah follows him and they stop at the milk bottle game. It looks simple, just knock down the bottles with a baseball, right? Well, Jinah would be proven wrong in a matter of minutes. Those bottles were apparently unmovable because Jinah couldn't manage to win even though she wasn't particularly weak.
"Those things have lead in them or something." Jinah said, glaring at the bottles still stacked perfectly.
"I guess we'll see about that after i'm done." Felix declared, picking up a baseball and staring at the pyramid for a second before launching the ball into the air. Somehow, he managed to clear the entire pyramid with one shot, making even the employee drop his jaw in surprise. Jinah looked at Felix, a look of slight surprise skimming his features before a laugh escaped him and a bright smile took over.
"I'm impressed. How did you do that?" Jinah asked, looking at the man beside her.
"It was luck I guess." He shrugged, taking the stuffed duck from the worker that he had won.
"Well, luck is apparently on your side today because i have never seen anyone do something like that before." Jinah complimented, earning another smile from Felix as the two of them walked away from the booth and back to where Momo and Changbin stood watching them.
"Well, looks like you two are getting along pretty well." Momo points out, sly smirk on her face still.
"What choice did we have? Stand awkwardly and third wheel you two?" Jinah half jokes, eyes averting her friend's gaze to steal a glance at Felix but quickly looked back to Momo as to not raise any suspicions in her mind.
"We should go get some food, i'm hungry." Changbin interjected.
"You're always hungry." the other three said in unison as if it was a practiced line. Felix looked at the two girls, and they returned his stare.
"So I'm not the only one who tells him that. Good to know." Felix remarked, he and Jinah both getting more and more comfortable as the night went on.
