OOI. THE WORLD WAS ENDING. On September 26th, 2003, Madeline Check was 20 years old and trying to survive Atlanta when the apocalypse hit. Time was slipping by quicker than she could blink. Her brain was constantly ticking like a clock. She had to act fast or she'll die. Madeline was always quick on her feet. That's how she managed to make it to 30 while others didn't. Before she knew it, another living creature was growing inside her at 23. While it wasn't the virus, it was her own very child. There was nothing more unfair than raising a child in circumstances like this where a good childhood isn't promised. For all, she knew the child would die within the next couple of days after being born. She wanted to avoid that. She was determined to protect this childhood no matter what. She didn't care if she died trying.
OII. Devon Check was the world to Madeline. She was her heart walking around on pigeon-toed feet. The minute the two met eyes Madeline knew that she wanted to give her the world on a silver platter. However, during the end of the world, that can be a little difficult to accomplish. Her father Bruce wasn't around much due to him being nomadic. He was determined to find a stable place for them to live. A place that promised them a happy life. Both Bruce and Madeline understood the importance of Devon and knew the lengths they'd go to for her.
