Start from the beginning

"Someone must be doing this!" The group started looking around.

Oh... Oh no.

I didn't like the sound of that.

"Fallback." I whispered to Lo'ak.

"Go, go, go." Lo'ak whispered in a hushed voice.

We crept out of the bushes, back into the trees.

"Look! Over there!"

Lo'ak and I broke into a sprint, giggling hysterically.

"Get them!"

"That way! I think I saw them!" One boy pointed out.

They all headed off in the direction the boy pointed to.

I released the breath I held.

"Do you think it's safe?" Lo'ak whispers from the branch below.

Lo'ak and I watched from above, shielded by a cluster of leaves.

"Yeah. Let's head back now." I whisper back.

We started climbing down, careful not to make a sound and draw the attention of the group back here.

My feet touched the ground, revelling in the soft grass beneath me.

I couldn't appreciate it before when we were running.

The area here, the environment. It was reminiscent of our home back in the forest.

A grim feeling creeped over me, a sinking feeling in my stomach.

"(Name), what are you doing? Let's go."

I looked back over to Lo'ak. I turned, taking one last glimpse of the terrain, before I hurried over to him.

I watched the water flow over my legs, kicking gently at the surface as I watched the luminescent light follow my movement.

The stars hung brightly above, flickering and lighting up the night sky as I sat on the woven path outside the marui pod.

It was so hard to ignore.

The feeling that clung to the back of my mind, grinding and chewing away at me.

Aside from today, Ao'nung and I hadn't spent the day separately since I had arrived.

He seemed to take all my attention and leave no room for anything else in my mind.

I gave a weak smile at that before it quickly dwindled.

The forest. My home.

My small smile completely vanished.

My throat clogged, not ready to cry.

It felt so weak to cry when everyone else was doing just fine.

I just missed home.

A small sob wracks my frame, followed by others.

In my peripheral vision, I catch (Name) sitting by the waters edge.

My mood instantly lifts at the person I hadn't had the privilege of seeing all day.
