Rushing around my room with little caffeine in my system i finally managed to put together an outfit. Eh who am i kidding? An orange sweater, light blue skinny jeans, and a grey beanie was not going to cut it for this date. Why am i even going? My last two dates were disastrous. I mean if i didn't learn from the closeted Physical Therapist or the die hard Trump supporter why would this one guy be any different? I glanced at my phone and it had just turned 4:45pm. Shit! I'm late! It was a thirty five minute drive to Winston Salem from my small BBQ recognized town, and we agreed to meet at 5:00pm at a Mexican restaurant i just found out last week was pretty good from my friend Kiersten at the clinic.
I managed to make my way out the door, and to my old beat down car that i just got right after nursing school. Sure it's not the fanciest thing in the world, but i haven't had any issues yet or the funds to buy something nicer. "Okay, Apple Maps..Apple Maps.."i panicked searching the apps in my phone. Great,ETA 5:27pm. I'm going to be almost thirty minutes late to our date. It hasn't been long since me and this new guy have been talking he sounds sweet, but usually they all do until the first date. That's when you get to hear all their drunken stories with their so called friends, and all of the red flags you start to keep track of in your head while your drink something not too fruity off the five dollar drink menu. The day after Christmas and i am already out trying to find my "True love". Well jokes on me because the last few definitely did not get me four calling birds, let alone a diamond ring. Usually it ends up costing me in therapy sessions and self help books to start the new year off with.
I'm half way down fifty two when i got the snapchat notification from him that read "Hey! I'm here!". Oh no! It's only 5:10pm, and he's already there? I am still about 15 minutes out what do i say? I know i slide up to respond "Almost there! So sorry, i lost track of the time". I really hope he doesn't take that the wrong way. It's not that I'm not looking forward to this date. It's just most of the time these dates are a completely waste of my time. Maybe he will be understanding, and forgive my tardiness. There it is Taco Mama, the restaurant Kiersten was telling me about. I hope this place is good, and is not one of those hole in the wall type places that end up being sketchy. That would turn out great a sketchy restaurant  with a possibility sketchy man is just what i need right now. I pulled up to the parking lot, and responded using Snapchat that i had arrived. We hadn't exchanged numbers yet, because typically on Tinder i guess its a standard rule that you exchange Snapchat usernames and not phone numbers. He quickly replied, and asked where did i park. I responded and took one glimpse in my rear view mirror to make sure i looked okay. "Why did i wear this beanie?" I thought. It's too late now. I got out of my car and closed the heavy door. Once i turned around i saw this tall boy, with a maroon sweater and blue jeans on, with hazel eyes that saw right through me walking toward me . Before i could get the nerve out to say a word he greeted me "Hello, I'm Clark" with a smile, and proceeded to shake my hand.
