The Great Wall Race

"Ooooh! They are literally driving through the mountain! It's a bold move."

"Very ambitious, so I guess we'll catch up with them on the other side of the mountain."

As Jin and Yin were talking, Redson and Mei were behind MK and Y/N.

"Get out of my way noodle boy!"

"Never!" Mei then sped past MK, making Redson follow her, leaving MK and Y/N in the dust. "Nothing personal gummy!" Mei yelled at Y/N, making Y/N gave her a small thumbs up.

"Hey! No fair! Here comes Monkie Kid!" The vehicle fell sideways, making Y/N lean on MK. "I'm so stupid! 'Oh, I got Monkey King powers' I think I'll be fine.'" MK crossed his arms, before suddenly getting an idea, looking at the staff. MK then hit the staff into the ground, flinging the vehicle into the air.

"I'm the greatest racer ever!"

"And at this point, the only way Mei's not going to win, is if some flying fool would've crashed into her from above!" Jin said, making Mei look up to see MK and Y/N crash down on her. As they were all on the ground, Redson then circled around them, bring up dust, before quickly stopping, grabbing Y/N's arm, and driving away.

"Hey!" MK yelled as Redson zoomed off with the child.

"Victory is mine, peasants! Hahahaha!" He yelled as, Y/N was sat next to him. He drove towards the finish line.

"It looks like Redson is going to win!"

Redson laughed before the ground shook beneath him, making him and Y/N turn around. MK and Mei then emerged with a huge race car, making Y/N sigh in relief that they were fine. They then crashed into Redson's car, making it break. MK then plunged his staff into the ground, fixing the car, but being squished with Redson and Y/N. They swerved, and flung Redson out of the car. They accidentally flung Y/N out as well with him. Redson hugged them from behind and crashed onto the ground. Mei and MK flew past the finish line.

"It is all over!"

"Mei and MK win!" The commentators yelled, as fireworks erupted in the sky. MK and Mei held up the peach as the crowd cheered.

"Noodle boy!" The crowd disappeared as Redson screamed, Y/N next to him. "You insufferable- THAT PEACH SHOULD BE MINE!"

"Hah, you're never getting this fruit!" MK then bit into the trophy making Y/N wince, and run up to him. "I don't think it's ripe yet." MK groaned.

"Umm, it's just a trophy, we don't really get a peach of immortality."

"What?! But- But the poster said-"

"It says right there on the poster."

The two looked at Mei and Y/N as they laughed. "It says you get immortality by having your picture projected on the great wall! Duh!" Mei said as Y/N continued laughing at their confused faces.

"Oh, so the peach is a metaphor. Oh, ok." MK said, as Redson fumed.

"I knew that! You think you're so- Ugh!" He then burst into flames and appeared behind them. He turned his head to look at them. "PEASENTS!" He yelled, before storming off. Y/N stopped laughing and winced at how furious he sounded.

"Wait, what about the real peaches? Where are they"

"I don't know."

At Flower Fruit Mountain, Monkey King was eating peaches of immortality.

"Ah, stone fruit." He grabbed a peach off a tree. "If these didn't make me immortal" He put the peach in his mouth. "they'd literally kill me." He belched, and paused before turning to the audience and winking.

As MK and Mei talked, Y/N secretly ran after Redson. As they caught up to him, Redson stopped walking when he heard Y/N's pant behind him. "Young one?" He said, looking at them surprised. "Do you need anything?" He asked, making Y/N look up at him.

"I wanted to check if you were ok. You sounded really mad earlier." Y/N replied, evident worry in their voice.

Redson looked at them surprised, he thought they were afraid of him, or didn't like him after he technically kidnaped them when they first met, and tried to crush their friends. Yet, here they were, asking him if he was okay. "I-..." Redson sighed. "I'm...Fine." He said, as he diverted his eyes away from Y/N.

"Also, I have a question to ask you." Y/N asked. "Why have you been so nice with me?"

"Excuse me?"

"I mean, you've been nothing but gentle to me ever since we met. The same goes with your family, DBK hasn't even laid a finger on me once. You and your family want to rule the world, but wouldn't I be in the way of that?"

Redson looked shocked, everything they said was completely true. They were in the way of his family's future, but he can see them as a part of it. He knelt and put his hand on Y/N's head. "Listen, young one, I understand why you feel this way, but... for some reason, I can't give an answer to that. Though I will promise you this, I will protect you, no matter what. I've decided, shall become your guardian." He said, with a straight face. Y/N's eyes widened, processing what he said.

"But I already have parents!"

"Not that kind of guardian, a guardian means a protector of sorts." Redson explained. Y/N was surprised, they didn't expect him too suddenly say that he would be their protector.

"But... what about your parents? Are they going to be okay about you wanting to be a mortal's guardian?"

"Oh!" Redson laughed, before putting his hands on Y/N's shoulders. "Don't worry, they'll actually be happy with this. My father doesn't mind having you around, and my mother completely fine with you." He spoke.

MK and Mei suddenly called Y/N's name, causing Redson to slightly smile at them before disappearing into flames.

"Y/N are you okay? We were about to go back to noddle shop." MK asked, making Y/N look at him.

"Oh, okay. I'm coming." They said, as Mei grabbed their hand and the three walked back to the Pigsy's noodle shop. As Y/N replayed the interaction with Redson in their head they couldn't help, but feel safer knowing that he and his family wasn't out to get them.

The three made it to the noodle shop where Pigsy and Tang congratulated MK and Mei, as Y/N pat their shoulders.

The rest of the day went quickly, as Y/N slept peacefully in their bed. A fire then rose behind the,, only for it to die down revealing Redson. He walked up to Y/N's resting form, and slowly stroked their head.

"Goodnight, young one."
