Regret

They say that Lucifer was God's favorite. That he was the best angel of all. Well then how did he come to rule hell, you may ask? Lucifer fell. It was a long and painful fall at that. Lucifer is a fallen angel that went from God's right hand, full of love and joy, to ruling the underworld. We all fall, but how far will you fall for someone? Will you fall into the hands of greed and obsession just to achieve your desires?

"Do you think I'd drop my walls for just anyone?" Laila ranted. 

I knew that Laila was furious, that she had a reason to be. Laila's soft angelic wings were beating in a thunderous manner, her eyes were a bloodshot crimson from crying. "I trusted you. And you- you" 

"I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry Laila." I cut Laila off.

 What I had done was hideous, truly insane. But despite that, I was sorry. "No. Sorry isn't enough anymore. Sorry won't fix anything. I'm done with you, Aris. Get out." Laila shouted in a raspy voice. 

Silver tears began rolling down her soft tanned cheeks. Laila turned away from me, her white chiton gracefully swayed in her direction" I didn't mean to hurt you, Laila. Please forgive me." 

As I stood before her, with every lie that slipped out of my mouth, every falsehood that tumbled out of my lips, a feeling of remorseful guilt tore throughout my sinful body. "Get OUT!" Laila's voice ripped through the area, shaking the clouds beneath us. 

Angels began to crowd around, muttering and mumbling about Laila's fit. Laila shakily brought her hands up to face, wiping her tears before staggering away into the coral sky. I fell to the ground in a hot mess, feeling torn up by the situation. The icy hands of fear crawled up my back, moving towards my throat to place me in an inevitable choke hold. I felt suffocated, like I couldn't breath any longer. My choked cries were followed by the gasps of several angels. "You know what that means.." a horse voice pointed out. 

 My hopeless body began to sink below the clouds. This meant only one thing. God had summoned me, and I already knew why.
