I know
the moment everything changed
I felt the shift
and the quaking
of the earth around me
but you remained oblivious
it was clear
by the way
her nickname
drifted off your tongue
with such ease
no struggle required
as if you hadn't spent
the last six months
speaking
not to her
but about her
in nothing
but implications
I never wanted to be a stand in
and I know
that's not what you intended for me either
but I'm afraid
the star
in the leading role
has returned
and being the understudy
I'm now left
to do what I do best
and fade to the background
until you forget
that I exist
