"Hey, where's Diego?"
You asked Lalita as you turned towards her.
"I don't know. A minute ago, he was here. Huh, Diego. What a lazy guy."
She sighed and you set the grape vine in your hand to your basket.
"I'll go and see where he is, so he won't get in trouble."
You ran off and decided to look around the territory to see where he is. You decided to check out the dam in case he's there. When you reached the dam, you indeed saw him running across the dam in the right direction. You ran after him. Then, he went down the other side of the dam, but you had no idea why. There's nothing on the other side except for the river. You tried climbing up the dam to see why he went down. When you climbed up, you didn't see Diego, so you decided to look down, to the other side. And sure enough, there he was. He was trying to push a big boulder that was falling down back into its place, but he slipped. You quickly ducked down and grabbed Diego's wrist.
"Y/N!"
He called.
"Yep. It's me."
You said, trying not to wince from the sudden pain in your arm. It was the first time you had to hold something this heavy with one hand. You took a deep breath and, on the count, of three, pulled Diego up to the top of the dam again.
"Goodness Gracious!"
You breathed intesely.
"What were you doing down there!?"
You asked him. He looked at you with a worried face and stood up slowly.
"There were people there. They were trying to break down the walls."
You stood up and looked at his serious face.
"But it's not possible to break them down."
He looked back at you and nodded.
"I know. But just in case, we must warn the rest of the workers. So, if that is true, we would be able to protect the walls."
With that, you decided to climb off the tall walls and go warn the rest of the people about what you figured out. Once Diego told them of what he found out about, Don Lucas immediately found some people to guard the dam walls. At about 7pm, you harvested half of the grape vineyard and had another half left. Not bad for a day, right? It started raining again and you had to wear raincoats again. You were calmly gathering grapes when you heard thunder and the same men in blue appeared at the dam entrance. You set your basket on the ground and went after the men to see what was happening. You noticed that they were threatening Don Lucas and the rest of the workers even though their marked deadline hasn't come. You ran towards them and were about to pull out your dagger, but Zorro appeared out of nowhere and took their attention from the workers and you. He charged at them on his white horse, but their leader cut off his horses' reins and it ran away, leaving him alone. He skillfully fought against the men in blue, but all until one man behind him, through a metal net over him. The net caught him, and he wasn't able to take it off or move quickly inside of it. The net was made of metal, so it was incredibly heavy and tough to break. You thought they were going to kill him now that he was caught in their net and couldn't move. But their leader hesitated and commanded them to keep him alive. You had no idea why though. Why wouldn't they kill their enemy when he was right in their hands? You quietly stood and watched what they were going to do. At first, their leader set off some type of firework and then he took Zorro and hanged the net he was in, over a pole. Since he was in the net, he couldn't leave, and he was dunked halfway under water. Then, all the men in blue, ran away and mockingly warned everyone to leave too. All of you turned towards the further end of the river to see a bunch of huge logs swimming your way and everyone started panicking and running away. But both you and Lalita who was there, weren't planning on running away. You two, ran towards the other end of the dam and looked down to where Zorro was. Lalita saw an axe on the ground, nearby, and tried to break the net with the axe. But the net was made of steel, so the chains wouldn't break, no matter how many times she hit it. So, you had an idea. You would use your dagger to hold the chains in place and Lalita would hit the chains against your dagger, causing the steel chains to bend and break. And that's what you did. Lalita hit it a couple of times and the chains were getting visibly more crooked. That was a good thing, but you also noticed that your dagger was cracking too. You just hoped it could hold through. Another hit, and you noticed the giant logs coming closer to the wall you were standing on. Another, and you could already hear your dagger start snapping and moreover, the chains bending in an unnatural way. And she hit it one more time and the chains broke, and Zorro fell into the water and so did your dagger that snapped in half. You saw the logs come extremely close and you realized that both you and Lalita now had nowhere to go. You were preparing to meet your end but that's when you heard explosions over the water. It was Captain Jackal and Gonzalez! They were bombing the logs, not allowing them to reach the wall and break it. As the bombs flew through the air and hit the logs, you and Lalita took the chance to run for it and escape the lonesome dam wall. You reached the land and saw Zorro appear once more. Alive and healthy. You were so happy that your plan worked, and he didn't drown. Zorro appeared and easily defeated all the men in blue and he even left a "Z" mark on their leaders back. Zorro easily got him on his back, defenseless. Once the army started heading over to the land area you were in, everyone started cheering, since this meant Zorro won. But you stayed quiet and watched Zorro's opponent carefully. You knew it wasn't everything that guy had in store for Zorro. As Zorro set his saber back into its case, the man ducked and took his sword to get Zorro on his back.
"Behind you!"
You screamed with all your might, so Zorro could hear you. Zorro quickly turned around but wasn't quick enough and got laid on the ground. The man picked up his sword and was about to stab Zorro through with his sword when you remembered your sister. Your sister used to pray with your parents when they were alive. You never prayed, because you were too small to understand what that was. But now, that was your only choice. You clenched your hands together and looked up to the sky, quietly whispering.
"God. Please. Save Zorro. He's our only hope for peace and justice in California. Save him. I don't know and don't care how, but save him from death. Please."
You paused and felt tears run down your cheeks as the rain drenched your face and you looked right into the sky. You never knew that you could have felt such a feeling of worry for Zorro.
"I know I've never prayed to you before and that you probably have no reason to listen to me. But please. That's all I ask of you. Save him. Please."
And as you finished saying that, a second later, lightning hit the man through his sword and zapped him. He got caught on fire and fell into the river. You had no idea what just happened. But if it was God who answered your prayers, then you were surely surprised that he answered so fast. Once Zorro got back on land and found his horse, the rain stopped, and the sun came out. The soldiers caught the bandits and tied them up. You stood in front of Zorro with Lalita and the others, thanking him.
"Thank you for your help, Zorro."
Hill thanked him.
"The higher powers have helped you this time. The evil should never win against the good."
Zorro told Hill, as he turned to you and Lalita who were standing next to each other.
"Lalita, Y/N."
You looked right into his blue eyes, waiting for him to continue.
"You saved my life today. Now, I'm forever in your debt."
Lalita got shy at his remark, and you just smiled and looked at him more intently than before.
"We're happy to help."
You added.
Zorro nodded and turned towards Captain Jackal.
"By the way. The South Indian Trading Company. I think you'll need to look in on them a little closer, Captain." "I will."
Captain Jackal answered.
"But listen to me, Zorro. Next time, I'll have to arrest you."
Zorro smirked.
"Well, first, you'll have to catch me. For now, see you next time!"
He exclaimed as he galloped away on his horse and Little Zorro clang on his back. Everyone waved goodbye as he left. Once Zorro left, Captain Jackal and Gonzalez took the bandits to the army tower to interrogate them and all of you finished harvesting the grapes and went home.
