After a moment, she stepped out into the walkway separating the desks; gradually making her way up to the front of the room. She passed your sitting stature before stopping in front of the chalkboard. She gracefully grasped the piece of chalk, eliciting your eyes to widen slightly.
You might've just started to understand why everyone already adored her.
She then fiercely etched kanji markings and strokes into the surface; calmly setting the chalk back where she'd found it.
Shoko Komi
Your lips were left parted as you read the board.
How would Shoko (y/n) sound?
Meh.
Everyone cheered as the girl made her way back to her seat; you frozen in realization.
You were just like everyone else there; you were a simp.
"Next."
The voice rang out after the female had taken her seat, next in line being an average looking boy with a sweet face. He looked horrified upon realizing it was his turn; you snorted.
"Next!" the teacher had repeated herself, annoyance evident in her tone.
"Ah! Yes!" the boy quickly stood, sending an apologetic glance in the older's direction. "Um, I'm Hitohito Tadano. And, I'm really looking forward to this year."
Minus ten points for using the word 'And' directly after a sentence.
"My special skill is that I can read the room." he'd continued. You raised an eyebrow at his claim, everyone was glaring daggers at him; yet he claimed to be able to read the room whilst not seeming to notice the silent death threats aimed in his direction? "Just kidding." the boy let out an awkward laugh.
You doubted he was kidding.
"And next."
At that, the boy defeatedly collapsed back into his seat as you stood, yawning tiredly. "Hi, I'm Inoue (y/n). I'm gonna be blunt here, all I really wanna do is sleep so don't talk to me unless I talk to you first." and with that, you sat down; the room frozen in shock at your blatant disrespect and odd demands.
----
You stepped back into the classroom, yet it was empty and desolate, you frowned. Your appetures gazed over the chalkboard, the chalk grated down as if used excessively. You approached it, straining your eyesight to see the writing that was once erased, vague, difficult to see lines slayed out across the surface.
How did you know I can't talk to people?
No.
I didn't get a chance to eat lunch.
I really want to talk to other people.
But when I'm in front of them, I freeze.
Sounded like social anxiety to you.
I'm sure I look scary and all, but I actually would like to talk to them.
And whenever I approach someone, they either get nervous or faint.
I don't blame them.
Who would want to talk to someone like me?
When I was in junior high, it was so hard eating lunch all by myself.
Seeing everyone else talking and laughing everyday for three years.
I tried to start conversations, but my voice just never came out.
No matter what I did, I was never able to talk to anyone.
What should I do?
Just talk...?
How should I start a conversation?
Walk up and say 'Hello'.
What do I do after that?
Uh-
What if I get rejected?
What topic should I bring up next?
What if they think I'm boring?
What if my smile looks weird?
What am I supposed to die?
Die-?!
Wait...
No, that said 'do' not 'die'. Oops...
I wanted to ask if you'd like to eat together.
These are hiccups.
I'm sorry.
Jeez, this conversation was becoming difficult to follow...
I just feel so frustrated, I can't even greet someone.
I can't talk about all the things I like, what makes me happy, what makes me sad, what I'm proud of, what I'm embarrassed about, homework, what shows I watch, or even the weather.
I'm sorry, Tanado, for all of this.
So whoever was writing, was talking with boring 'read the room' guy? Your frown deepened slightly. This person just wanted to speak, the exact opposite of you.
Because...
In any case, I thought I really should apologize to you.
I am truly sorry, Tadano.
You had a pretty good guess of who had written this, however you knew something for sure; they sucked at erasing the words they'd written on the chalkboard.
Sorry for keeping you, I know this isn't your problem.
I'd understand if you decided to forget everything I wrote here today.
Goodbye.
Wow, all this for your gel pen that you'd left in the classroom during first period.
Oh, there was more writing but it was erased better...
The... The weather's nice foreplay-
Shit-
The weather's nice... today...?
You sighed, giving up. Deciding to be a somewhat decent person, you gingerly picked up the eraser before ensuring that the left over traces were unreadable as to ensure the two's privacy.
You paused, your eyes scanning over a specific sentence.
I want to make a hundred friends.
You slid the eraser over it a few times, disposing of the leftover traces of kanji.
A hundred friends? Well, you supposed you'd just have to bring that number down by one just for Komi.
