TEDIOUS - ONE PIECE X READER PART ONE

Your eyes narrowed. You knew it. He was....

The male flipped over his attackers before landing and flinging his arm forward. His arm stretched, literally.

.....A devil fruit user.

Shiruku froze, shocked. You sighed, you'd have to monitor this idiot, wouldn't you? "They're down huh?" the male commented, smiling excitedly.

"Wha...What just....his arm....it...stretched...?" Shiruku rasped under her breath, reaching back and gripping your hand tightly. Your face felt hot at the contact.

The male looked back at you and Shiruku, his hand resting on his bicep. "Surprised? I told you I ate the gomu gomu fruit, didn't I?" he muttered. He did, in fact, not mention that fact.

Gyari screeched, angry. "You really piss me off!! AGHHHH!!! Where are you aiming???!!! Where?! You of course you idiot!! Just die already!!" the pirate growled, whipping out a double barreled gun and shooting at the lanky straw hat teen. The bullet shot at his torso, sending him hunched over as Shiruku gasped, covering her mouth.

Everyone was screaming, yelling. You hated it. It hurt your ears. The male's back stretched as his body refused to break at the force of the bullet, a smirk etched into his face. He straightened his posture, the bullet shooting back past the pirate's head. The teen rubbed his stomach, his fallen hat held in his other hand.

"Ahhh, that surprised me." the boy murmured.

"Pistols...don't...work either?!" the pirate weakly exclaimed, his tone cracking.

The pirates screamed, running away as Gyari yelled something about remembering this moment.

The teen raised his hands, hooking his fingers into his cheeks as he stretched his face. "Like I was saying, my whole body is rubber," he explained. Wait...his whole body? Did that mean his.... "It's the trade off for never being able to swim. Cool, right?"

Shiruku scowled, snapping back into reality. "I still like (y/n)'s better." You froze, the teen going quiet and looking over to you.

"You... also ate a gomu gomu fruit?!" he exclaimed. You deadpanned. Was he stupid? He then waved it off, "I'll ask later, I'd better catch those guys or I'll feel bad." The male then took off in the direction the pirates ran.

Shiruku then ran off after him, leaving you behind. You sighed defeatedly. Welp, you wanted excitement didn't you? As much as the villagers didn't like you, they were Shiruku's treasure so you valued them too. You headed towards the beach before climbing up onto the pirates ship and waiting.

If you were right, they'd come back with the village's treasure, you wanted to bring it back.

After a little while of being draped over the side of the ship, terribly bored, you'd noticed the pirates had come back, the village's treasure and the straw hat boy with them. The boy was bound in ropes.

You watched as Gyari snatched the teen's hat before dropping it to the ground and stomping on it, enraging the younger. When Gyari went to stomp on the hat once again, the teen leaned down and bit his ankle, earning a screech.

Gyari then said something you weren't able to hear well, his subordinate chucking the teen into the ocean. "Shit-!" you'd yelped, earning the pirate's attention.

This was bad! You couldn't save the boy! He was in the water! He was a devil fruit user like you! Neither of you could swim! It was only a matter of time before the pirates had made it onto the ship, capturing you and setting sail. The thing was, you could've easily escaped, but you couldn't risk being dragged into the water.

Your abilities had downsides. The ship suddenl;y tilted, you sliding across the deck and slamming into the side of the ship. Ah, it was the teen, his straw hat was still with Gyari, wasn't it? The boy stood on the front deck, his arms crossed as he looked around and saw you sitting there boredly.

"GEHHH!!" The pirates had screeched.

The teen smirked, "It's not Geh. My name's Luffy."

"Bastard!! Why are you alive?! And how'd you get on this ship??!!" Gyari demanded. Luffy huffed, his arm stretching as he snatched his hat from Gyari's grasp.

"You stomped on my treasure. I'll also take back that village's treasure. And I'll recruit (y/n) into my crew because they're living a boring life here." he declared. Your eyes went wide, a part of you wanting to leave as another pulled away, wishing to stay with Shiruku.

"What?! None of that should concern you!!" Gyari screeched annoyingly. You sighed for the ninth time, standing as the ropes around you lost their weight and tore. Your devil fruit ability, manipulating weight and density. It used to be that you could only manipulate your own weight and density until a certain incident occurred.

The pirates reeled back in shock. You just stood and freed yourself from the ropes no problem! Did you have super strength?! Luffy smiled, spreading out his arms the gesture around himself. "By the way, is your treasure, this ship?"

You walked up to stand beside Luffy, a harsh glare upon your features. "If it's as Luffy says and this ship is your treasure.... I'll smash it because you made Shiruku frown." you growled, Luffy beside you sweating, nervous.

"Don't say such ridiculous crap!!!" Gyari screamed.

"I'm not lying. I'll do it." you monotonously declared.

Gyari's subordinates began jumping off the ship, screaming in fear.

You made yourself weightless, upping your density before jumping up above the ship. "SOMEONE STOP THEM!!! STOP THEM HURRY!!" Gyari screeched, Luffy jumping up beside you to avoid the wreckage ready to ensue. You added ten marine ship's worth of weight to yourself, sending you plummeting into Gyari's ship.

Luffy smiled, "Smash it (y/n)!" he cheered, the ship's pieces flying up as you removed all your weight once again to avoid the water. You and Luffy landed on one of the ship pieces, Gyari clinging onto a nearby one.

"Dammit!! Don't you forget this!! Some day I'll set out to find the both of you and I'll kill you!! Straw hat Luffy, (y/n)!!! Remember this!!" Gyari screamed, you and Luffy staring at the male, bored.

Luffy huffed. "From start to the end, you're the one who came and started a fight. Why do we have to remember you? It's a pain." Luffy answered curtly, his leg stretching and kicking Gyari off the remnants of the ship.

Luffy turned his attention to you as the ship continued sinking. "So, (y/n). Are you gonna join my crew?"

You hummed in thought. "Will...Will it be interesting? Will it have as much excitement as today?" you inquired. Luffy smiled and nodded. "Then... I suppose so."

~time skip~

You sulked, curled up in the corner of the small boat as Luffy admired the sails he'd stolen from Gyari's ship.

Lesson of the day, don't mess with Luffy's hat.
