Scarlet Skies

Trouble Awaits

The sky was scarlet and so was the lightning, it was beautiful yet dangerous at the same time. Chloe woke before me. She was sitting on a nearby stone however it started to glow red "Chloe!" I shouted but when she turned her head. She smiled through the tears and boom she was gone, turned to ash and nothing was left. Then the spot in front of me starts to glow red "Mine as well" I say to myself walking into the barrier of red.

I looked up, admiring the sky and clouds then boom I was struck but not destroyed a fraction struck me before I saw an elderly man push me out of the way he was now ash sitting on the ground. My body twitched and shook I could see the remaining energy still zapping around my body. It goes dark but when I wake I see one of the scarlet monsters that came when the sky turned scarlet.

Its wings are enormous and its scales are shiny as if they were just polished "This one seems to be dead" it said I can understand them I think it looks at me closer with its golden eyes "No maybe not the fear runs deep in him" it said "over here" another said as the ashes from the ground gather to make the old man again "I think this one saved that one yet he still was struck" the other adds "it would have been a wise choice if they died by the lightning" it said "true these humans aren't fit for this world anymore" the other said "since he was struck" it said shaping into a human "we should run some tests" it adds "indeed" the other said also turning. 

When I woke they were gone but when I checked the footprints they were still warm "They just left" I said to myself when I looked at my arm there was a scarlet marking like electricity running through it "must have been when I was struck" I say standing but then when my heart beat my eyes felt swollen. I couldn't see but then my vision turned I stood up again nothing happened. When I walked out of the cave I could see the red dragons circling in the sky I could faintly hear talking however I couldn't make out the words so I started to run to the other rock that was beside Chloe's death space, this rock had a tiny cave that was dug under it just in case the lightning came so I climbed inside and hoped for the best.

When the dragons came back they both turned into humans and carried the food into the cave "Where did he go!!" one yelled, "how would I know I was with you getting food" the other said walking out of the cave "At least he left footprints" the other said following them. My heart pounded in fear when they etched closer and closer "Found you" he said reaching his arm in to grab me "Aw can't reach" he said. Still, then the other one lifted the rock in his dragon form "Thank you" he said grabbing me and the other dropped the rock making the hole collapse "No problem" he said smiling changing back into a human.

When they walked back into the cave they threw me on the floor "Now that you are awake I must ask you questions" he said "But first I am Siphon and my brother here is Voltaire" Siphon said speaking over his brother "I survived because of the old man pushing me, I do not have any unnatural powers to what you might think, and I will not allow you to eat me" I say standing up "well how did you know I was going to ask those questions?" Voltaire asks "Well actually seems how I was kinda awake when you were talking to your brother earlier I can understand your dragon talk now tho," I say looking at their shocked faces "Wait have we been talking in dragon this entire time," Voltaire asks his brother "actually when I think about it, yes," Siphon said thinking.

They both stare in shock for a while until I move towards the berries on the banana tree leaf Y'know these berries are poisonous to about every animal in this world, right" I say picking them up and holding them in the air. They look at each other Butt there quite good actually" Siphon said, "wait these are purple just like some of the animals that have purple bumps" Voltaire said like he figured out the hardest of problems "Yes they have a connection I've seen it in action a red animal ate it then instantly they had purple dots" I say "if they eat more than twelve the bumps get so big they burst to make them scream in pain and then they die" I add but when I look up they both have wide eyes "what" I ask "you are very knowledgeable" Voltaire said "yes agreed" Siphon said.

Suddenly my eyes throb again making me fall to the ground Aree you okay human" I hear someone say but then everything fades away into nothingness. When I awake my whole body aches in pain when I try to stand up I hit my head on the ceiling of the cave "how" I say but then I look down and see scarlet scales on my hands and feet then I noticed the tail sharpened to a point and when I press my hands to the floor I feel the weight of my wings pushing down on my body "how am I a dragon" I ask "I don't know" Voltaire said turning into a dragon with Siphon "this is most interesting indeed" Siphon said checking me out "you are quite small tho" Siphon adds.

By the end of the day, I had received so many remarks fromSiphonn about how small I am to how my claws are sharper than his however Voltaire was studying me the whole time when he was finished the answers came bare. When I woke the next morning I was still a dragon but when I stepped outside I saw Voltaire and his brother sitting on rocks getting electrocuted by the lightning Ohh hello human thing" Siphon said hopping off the rock What Aree you guys doing" I asked still watching Voltaire being hit "recharging, when our power runs low we won't be able to shift forms or use the abilities we have that the humansdon'tt know about" siphon whispers in my ear "interesting" I say walking into the red light "so like this" I add getting struck by it but surprisingly it didn't hurt it felt like great power was transported into my body sending tingles all over then I shifted into a human.
