ugh. mathematics is the worst.

i grunted as i managed to squeeze past a group of students huddled around the door, all attempting to leave the classroom at once. talk about basic sense. i fixed my bangs while rest of my hair stayed intact in a rather short ponytail. i stopped just across the room, waiting for my 3 best friends, rose, jaz and stella.

our group counted as one of the most popular girl groups in the entire 11th grade. rose and jaz were in the cheerleading team which is enough to explain their popularity and stella herself was a pretty decent player. it was pretty normal for them to get all the attention. but me on the other hand, the awkward and clumsy side chick ..hated it. it always made me feel queasy and uncomfortable to be in the lime light. thats why, half of the people in school didn't even know i belonged to their group.

but that was fine by me. i actually enjoyed it. it was like a therapy, every friday night, we gathered at one of our houses and spilled all the teas that was lurking around the halls of REDSMITH HIGHSCHOOL. plus my friends werent like the typical popular girls that every 2000's hollywood movie portrayed. they were like my elder sisters. my platonic soulmates. my-

"scarletttt!" jaz screeched, running towards me with open arms. jaz was evidently the most excited among us all. her long hair trailed behind her as she ran and engulfed me in a bone crushing hug. "jeez, we met just an hour ago." i said, scrunching up my nose as i struggled out of her grip. i sometimes felt bad about not hugging them back, but they knew too, one thing that i absolutely hated along side with chapped lips was hugs. "come on scarlet, you know jaz, one hour is not just one hour, its 60 minutes, 3600 second and i dont know but some thousand millisecond and much much more." stella cut her off with a big, goofy grin plastered on her face. stella had a stern posture, an ideal body that even bella hadid might take some notes from. but under all the layers and layers of confidence, there was still a shy stella who hated eye contacts and was head over heels for her opponent in the badminton team.

"okay she gets it. i was just greeting her, is it that hard to digest?" jaz said with pout which made me smile. i tugged her hand and lightly tapped at my stomach. "speaking of digesting, my stomach is bored and desperately needs something to eat. so lets get going to the canteen shall we?" i asked which made rose grin. "i heard we have something for sweet today, maybe a chocolate muffin. michael told that to me in spanish." she said and excitedly clapped her hands. rose was the mom of the group. the cheerleading teams leader and the hearthrob of the grade. she had the clearest skin which made me question my mom if the reason behind my dark circles and ..not so perfect skin was something she ate during pregnancy, because all of my money that i spent on skin care showed the difference which was equivalent to taylor swifts flopped songs.

zero.

just when i was about to share how ridiculously mr.pattinson was teaching in todays class, the school speakers started with a long screech making everyone hiss with annoyance.

"good morning dear students. we are pleased to announce that our school is hosting a 1 week trip to Mount Rainer. after a constant appeal from the students and the fellow teachers, we are hereby declaring a trip that is expected to take place around the first week of february . the details and the circulars about the same will be distributed soon. please note that the trip is only for 11th and 12th grade. thankyou and have a fantastic day."

and with another loud screech the halls fell silent.

within a span of 0.9 seconds the students started cheering as if they were in a taylor swift concert. a trip to mount rainer? sounds fun, but again.. anything that involved people and meeting was not my jam. i was shook out of my thoughts when a strong pair of hands vigourosly shook my shoulders. "DID YOU HEAR THAT SCARLET? A TRIP! A FUDGETY FRICKING TRIP!!" stella screamed and beamed while her eyes formed a crescent shape and on the other side rose and jaz were doing a happy dance. "YES I DID!" i said trying to match her level of excitement. it wasnt that i didnt like the idea of the trip, i just didnt like going out in general.
