The titans whispered to one another. Commander was confused, was this good or bad? Void Reaver stared at him in disbelief. "So... what was it?" Commander asked, almost afraid.
Void Reaver got out of his shock. "You were in the Meadows. That other titan was Gravekeeper. You somehow managed to visit it. I've only heard stories of such a place," Void Reaver answered.
"Did Gravedigger say anything to you?" Fallen King asked. "What about Gravekeeper? Did he even say anything at all?" Sinister asked. The titans began to hound, each one wanting the story.
"No! Get away from me! All I know is that they were picking up Scout and asking him if he was sure about something! Then.. he turned to me. He looked different. He said... thank you," Commander looked down at the drawing.
The titans fell silent. It was a tense silence too. Void Reaver stepped over and gently placed his great hand on Commander's shoulder. "I don't know if this a good time to tell you. Your little tower friend just agreed to sacrifice his humanity," Void Reaver squeezed slightly.
Commander looked at him, confused, "What do you even mean?" Fallen King stepped forward, "What he means is that he'll come back. He just won't be 'Scout' anymore. He's going to be a gravekeeper."
It was silent again. It was even more uncomfortable than last time. Then, Commander snorted. He began to chuckle then full on laugh. The titans looked at him as if he was insane.
"You titans! You guys are so funny!" Commander wiped the tear from his eye and fixed his sunglasses. When he looked up, they were all just staring. There was no smiles. None of them was finding it funny.
Commander sat there and stared at them, waiting for any of them to say something. None of them said a word.
The silence was broken from Medic walking in. "Commander, I got the report of the attack- did I interrupt something?" Medic stopped as she looked around the crowded room. "You didn't, they were just leaving," Commander's tone was a bit aggressive.
They got the hint and left, each of them chattering to one another about if Commander really was fortunate enough to visit such a sacred place to them.
"Not going to even ask. However, I got reports from the other three that were on the scouting mission. It's confirmed, they were attacked by the same entity that attacked Lord Sinister," Medic plopped a manila folder on Commander's desk abd flopped down in the comfy chair in the corner.
Commander stared at the folder, his mouth going a bit dry as he bit his lip. Whoever this "Jaxe" was had killed his precious Scout. He didn't even want to open it.
"Hey... I told them about my dream," Commander didn't look up as he spoke. Medic rolled her head to him, "What did they say?" Commander was quiet for a moment. The idea seemed stupid, "They said that it was some sacred place. Then they told me that Scout was going to come back as a titan! Like, a replacement Gravedigger! Stupid, isn't it?"
Medic was looking at him, wide eyed. Commander couldn't believe it, was she believing this? "Commander, I don't think they would make up something like that. Maybe they were right," Medic sat up at Commander stood up from his chair, clearly pissed.
"Are you serious? How could you believe such a stupid fib?" Commander barked. Medic got up on her own feet and snapped back, "Do you really think they would do this for some sick laughs? Commander, you're in grief! You've barely gotten past stage one!"
"What do you know about my god damn emotions?" Commander hissed. "Because I'm a doctor!" Medic argued back. "Just because you're a doctor, doesn't mean you know every little thing about me!" Commander screeched.
Medic stomped her foot on the ground as he blurted out;
"IT'S NOT JUST BECAUSE I'M A DOCTOR! I ALSO LIKE YOU!"
The office grew quiet. Medic's expression changed as she spilled her true feeling and Commander was in awe at the accidental confession.
"Medic.. I-" before Commander could even try to say anything to her, Medic quickly left. Her heels clicked rapidly away as she left Commander all alone in his office.
Commander wanted to go after her, but he stopped himself as he looked down at his carpeted floor. He grunted and stamped his foot almost like an angry kid. He had possibly fucked up a relationship. This was bad. He had lost one person to life's selfishness now he's going to lose another because he let his stubbornness get in the way.
He had to make this right. However, looking at the manilla folders, he had something else to fake care of. He had a war strategy to plan.
