Chapter one

Mondays, ugh. At least I get to see her. I throw back the covers and get dressed. I should introduce myself. My name is Joey Jordan. I'm 17 and in high school. I live in Marana, Az. Anyways I grab my keys and head out of the house. I can't stop thinking about her. I've liked her since 6th grade. Chad and her just broke up, she caught him cheating. If you're wondering who I'm talking about it's Mylea VanCamp but she goes by MJ because of "family issues." I start my car and head to MHS. I pull up and I don't see MJ's truck or Kayla's car. I do see Kiadence's. She and MJ used to be a thing. Kaidence is my cousin and we don't always see eye to eye on things. 1 because she is short and 2 because I was a jerk to MJ since 6th and Kaidence had to deal with her crying all the time when I was a jerk. She and MJ still talk but now they don't date or talk about who they like anymore because that's the whole reason they broke up is that MJ liked me too much, which I don't see an issue with. I liked all the attention. But Kaidence said it was getting in the way of their relationship because she was too focused on me. MJ came to me crying when they broke up because I was her second choice. I step out of my car and go up to the office and then go to the plaza.

"I'm sorry my truck broke down." MJ's cute voice drifted through the door from the bathroom.

She runs right into me as she steps out of the bathroom and as she puts her phone in her pocket. She turns red and mumbles something. I grab her wrist and whisper in her ear.

"You know that you could have called me and I would have come and picked you up"

"Kk picked me and Kayla up because Kayla's car is in the shop too," she says not looking at me. I just let her walk away. I can't help but think that she still likes me. I turn around and I see Kaidence staring at me and she was mad and I just smiled at her. She turns and runs to catch up with her. I head towards Kayla. She and I are friends for some reason. I walked up to her.

"BOO," I say

"Ahhhhhhh. Oh, it's just you, I thought I told you not to do that." I'm just laughing

"I got you so good."

"Ok and kk wants to talk to you."

"Do you know why?"

"No, she just said she wanted to talk to you."

"Ok this will be fun," I say sarcastically.

"Why do you say that?"

"Earlier she looked like she wanted to kill me soo."

"Did you do something with MJ? She still likes her so that's why."

"Makes sense... but I've liked her longer." I then walk away and find Kaidence. She and MJ are talking so I walk behind MJ so I can scare her. Kaidence's face turns into stone and she has a fire in her eyes that is there when she gets when she is mad.

"What is wrong KK?"

Then I put my hands on MJ's shoulders and squeezed.

"Ohhh that's what. Ok. Do you want me to go?" MJ asks

"Well, that is up to Kaidence. So what do you think Kaidence?"

"MJ can you please go? I will catch up to you later."

"Okay" she waves at kk and I turn back around and kk starts to giggle.

"Okay now that she's gone. What do you want?" I ask when she stops giggling.

"I have a bet for you. Whoever ends up getting MJ to go to prom with her will get three thousand dollars."

"I'll have to think about it because she just got out of a cheaters relationship."
