45. Therapy Session 2: Lies and Betrayals

Priya made a call to Tarun to ask him about Pihu.
Priya: Tarun Pihu thik hai na?
Tarun: Ji Pihu baby bilkul thik hai. Haa par thoda gusse mein hai.
Priya(nodding to Ram): Khaana khaya usne?
Tarun: Ji bhabhi. Lunch karne ke baad so gayi thi couch pe toh maine uper bed pe sula diya.
Priya: Oh okay Tarun. Thank you Tarun. Uth jaaye toh paani pila dena.
Tarun: Ji bhabhi.
Priya cut the call and looked at Ram who was impatiently waiting for her to tell him about Pihu.
Priya: She's fine. Lunch karke so gayi.
Ram nodded.
Ram: Upset thi?
Priya nodded. Ram's face fell.
Priya: Mr. Kapoor Kapoor she'll be fine. Aadat ho jayegi usse baaki sab ke saath rehne ki aap tension mat lije.
Ram: Are you sure?
Priya nodded with a small smile.

They both came downstairs as it was the time for the appointment with Tara.
They knocked and entered into the room. Tara welcomed them with a smile.
Tara: Sit. Sit.
Ram and Priya sat down on the couch.
Tara: How are you both feeling today?
Priya: Good.
Ram: Fine. Priya had an appointment with Dr. Joshi.
Tara: Oh that's good.
Ram informed her about the change in the medicines and what she advised them to do.
Tara: Did you experience panic attacks recently?
Priya: Umm...no.
Ram: For 5-6 days no.
Tara: Okay. That's a good thing. I was thinking of advising you both to join yoga and mindfulness meditation.
Priya chuckled softly.
Tara: What's amusing Priya?
Priya: Yoga and Mr. Kapoor? Tara you're asking for too much.
Priya again chuckled while Ram glared at her.
Ram: That's not fair.
Priya: Main bohot convince karke jogging ke liye bhejti thi woh bhi 5 saal pehle. Woh bhi inhone kuch hi din continue kiya tha. Inko subah uthke exercise karne bolo toh muh banate hain. Woh time yeh cupcakes khaane ke liye use karne ko zyada beneficial samajhte hain.
Ram(annoyed): Ho gaya tumhara? (Looking at Tara) Tara I don't get time to do all that. Mujhe bohot kaam hota hai office mein. Kab karunga? The time I get I feel like not doing anything.
Tara: I get it Ram and I get you too Priya. Someone who is not used to dividing time and do multiple things in a day find it difficult to do. It is normal Ram. So I would advise you both start doing this together. You can make your daughter join too and have a nice family time. She's little. Agar abhise start karegi toh it'll be beneficial for her too. Zyada nahi pehle 10, then 15 aise time badhate raho. 30-40 mintues is enough. Itna time khudko dena shikho. Your body and mind will thank you for this. Are you getting what I'm trying to say.
Ram nodded, pouting cutely.
Tara: If you get bored of doing yoga everyday, go for a walk, jog or use exercise ball. It'll help you to concentrate better, keep your emotions in check, feel centered, be physically healthy.
Ram: Okay fine. I'll do it.
Priya: Paper pe likh ke dije.
Tara smiled while Ram shot a death glare at Priya who turned her gaze towards Tara.

A minute later,
Tara: Okay. Now that we've settled in can we start from where we left that day?
Ram sighed thinking what's about to come while Priya nodded.
Priya: So the next day I stepped into his house. It was the day Shivi and Akki were to get married. But sab hogaya Shivi ready ho gayi Akki didn't come. So I went to search for him and got to know that he had auditioned for a film before and got the work. He had to go for an outdoor shoot. So he went there to decline the offer because Shivi was his first priority. He wanted to get married to her. But Shivi supported him and told him to accept the offer and she will wait for him to get married. Toh unki shaadi hui nahi uss din. Uske baad Mr. Kapoor ne hamara woh prenup jala diya cause he wanted trust to be the foundation of our relationship.
Ram: Priya bhool gayi ek baat batana jo mujhe lagta hai important hai. She gifted me a photo frame with a quote in which "Trust Isn't Complete Without You" was written.
Tara(nodding): Ram why did you burn the prenup?
Ram: Mujhe pata tha kuch bhi jo Priya kabhi kuch leke bhagegi jo uska nahi agar hamari shaadi kisi wajah se toot bhi jaaye toh. Mujhe bharosa tha uspe. Isiliye maine jala dia tha prenup.
Tara: Priya how did you feel about it?
Priya: I was shocked but happy because he trusted me even after all those things happened between us and our families.
Tara: Okay. Please continue.
Priya: Uske dusre din I met his friend Shashi who invited us for dinner in his house. Maine pehle na kiya then I said yes. Toh hum gaye the Shashi aur uski wife Vedika ke ghar.
Tara: Is this the same Vedika you talked about in our last session?
Priya: Oh definitely yes. Meri zindagi mein ek hi Vedika hai.
Ram closed his eyes in frustration.
Tara: Ram are you okay?
Ram(looking at Tara): Yes I'm. (Clearing his throat) Umm...then my stepmother, showed me a video in which Priya's stepbrother Raj was instructing a guy from whose stall I ate noodles on our wedding day. It had prawns. Mujhe allergy hai Prawns se. That's why I fell sick on that day.
Tara: So it was to harm you.
Priya nodded.
Priya: MS and Raj both were involved in this. They wanted to harm him.
Ram: Then my stepmother and stepbrother wanted to cancel Shivi's marriage with Akki because it wasn't safe for her to go in that house. I tried to convince them that Akki's family loves Shivi they'll protect her, and she'll be safe there. But they didn't agree. Main kar bhi kya sakta tha. So I agreed. I wanted to tell Priya but I didn't want to....break her heart by telling her that they wanted to harm me.
Ram stopped talking as he remembered how sad Priya was to know that the marriage wasn't happening.
Priya: I came to know that from my mother. Mr. Kapoor ne nahi bataya mujhe. Tod diya shaadi. Mujhe nahi bataya kyun. Hamara jhagda ho gaya iss baat par. Hum dono ne ek dusre ko bohot kuch suna dia jo shayad hum mean bhi nahi karte the. Agledin main gayi unse milne unke office poochne ke liye ke reason kya hai toh....umm....maine suna ke woh annulment papers ki baat kar rahe the hamari shaadi ko cancel karne ke liye.
Tara: What? I don't understand. Shaadi cancel because tumhare bhai behen ki shaadi cancel ho rahi thi?
Ram: Maine nahi kiya aisa kuch. Woh toh....Vedika...woh aayi thi papers leke.
Priya(looking at Ram, stunned): Vedika? Usne aapko papers diya? Wow!
Ram: Haan. She tried to convince me to sign it but mujhe nahi karna tha. Shaadi ki thi koi deal nahi thi. Mujhe nahi todna tha toh maine nahi sign kiya. Par baat ho rahi thi usse lekar hi toh shayad tumne woh sunn liya hoga. Priya main sach mein nahi chahta tha.
Priya nodded, looking at Ram.
Ram: Phir mujhe pata chala ke Priya ko yeh annulment wali baat pata chal gayi. Woh gusse mein thi jo jayaz hai. Phir usse Paneer khaake allergic reaction hua. Bohot bimaar thi. Main darr gaya tha. But medicines lene ke baad woh thoda thik hui toh chali gayi. Phir mujhe pata chala ke Akki aur Shivi ko bhaag ke shaadi karne mein Priya ne help kiya. Isliye usne Paneer khaya tha taaki Shivi ghar se bhaag paye. Main bohot gussa tha uspe.
Priya: Maine isliye Akki Shivi ki shaadi karayi kyunki Shivi ek gaadi ke samne aa gayi thi shaadi cancel hui toh. She was really upset. Aur Mr. Kapoor aa gaye Mandir mein jahan shaadi ho rahi thi aur Shivi ko lekar chale gaye. Tab mujhe pata chala Raj aur MS ki shazish ka. Toh maine unhe arrest karwa diya.
Ram: Bohot problem hui par Shivi ki khushi ke liye humne shaadi accept karli or at least maine ki. Karwa chauth tha toh Priya ne kaha vrat tootne ke baad annulment papers sign kar dene ko.
Tara: Annulment was still on? Priya did you wanted this?
Priya: No.
Tara: Toh phir?
Priya: Nandini Kapoor. Unhone mujhse kaha ke hamari shaadi ka umm...koi matlab nahi hai. Aur karwahat baad rahi hai hum dono mein. Kuch workout... nahi ho raha. Unse galti ho gayi hamari shaadi karke. Toh...maine kaha unse ke main sign kar dungi.
Tara: Did you both talk about it? Kya chahte ho annulment ya nahi?
Both shook their heads.
Tara: You both didn't talk to each other about this big decision?
Both again shook their heads.
Tara: Shaadi aap dono ki thi ya nahi? It should be your decision. Why a third person is coming in between and handing out annulment papers?
Priya: Unhone mujhse kaha ke woh apne bete se bohot pyaar karti hai. Aur main aur problem create nahi karna chahti thi unki life mein.
Ram: Unhone hi mujhe dikhaya ke Priya ne sign kiya hai aur main nahi chahta tha ki usse zabardasti mere saath rehna pade. Phir main jab sign karne wala tha toh meri dost ne uspe kuch gira diya aur papers kharab ho gaye.
Tara: You both didn't talk, you assumed that the other didn't want the relationship. Shaadi aap dono ki thi. Todna hai ke nahi yeh decision bhi aap dono ka hona chahiye phir aapki family aapse kitna bhi close ho. Are you getting what I'm trying to say?
Priya and Ram sighed, then nodded, keeping their heads down. He passed the glass of water towards Priya who shook her head.
Ram: Priya ne mere liye fast rakkha tha aur maine iske liye par hum dono ko pata nahi thi yeh baat. Baad mein pata chala.
Tara nodded.
Priya: Aur maine uss din ek promise kiya tha Mr. Kapoor se ke main Shivina ko hamesha protect karungi. Usse koi takleef koi nuksaan nahi pohochne dungi. (Tearfully) But I couldn't keep my promise.
Ram held her hand while tears started falling down her eyes. Ram pulled out a tissue before Tara could pass the tissue box to her and gave it to Priya.
Ram: Tumhari galti nahi thi Priya.
Tara silently watched the couple, wondering what brought them at this stage.
