Chapter X

" Let us no longer hold ill feelings in our hearts. The crown cannot stand strong if the house of the dragon remains divided. But set aside your grievances. If not for the sake of the crown, then for the sake of this old man who loves you all." Rhaena felt saddened to hear the heart break in his voice. Rhanea then saw her mother grab her cup, and she raised her cup to the Queen. This amused Rhaena for she knew that her mother didn't really like the Queen that much anymore. Rhaena wasn't really listening to her mother's speech, but it was until she saw the Queen raise her cup as well and say this

"It gladdens me to hear you say those word's princess. We are both mothers, and we love our children and this is why in good will I wish for your daughter Rhaena to marry my son Aemond to strengthen the bond between our Houses" When the Queen said those word Rhaena's eyes widened she didn't want to marry anyone, and she couldn't decline the offer in front of all these people because if she were to do that it would seem like her mother didn't want to fix the broken bond between them. Rhaena felt her mother's gaze on her, Rhaena only nodded her head to her mother she didn't agree because she wanted to marry Aemond she agreed for the sake of her family and grandfather.

" We would be honored your grace to accept this offer" Rhaenyra spoke with fake gratefulness towards the Queen. The Queen made Rhaenyra do what she promised her self she wouldn't do, Sell her daughter off in marriage. Viserys smiled and spoke

"This will be good to strengthen the broken bond between our houses, A Toast is to be made" Rhaena was fuming, she was glaring across the table and looking at Queen Alicent. She then looked over to Aemond who was already looking towards her with a smirk on his face.

" To my granddaughter Princess Rhaena who will soon marry my son Prince Aemond to further strengthen the bond between the house Velaryon and the house Targaryen" Everyone rose their glass but Rhaena drowned her cup of wine to try and lose herself a little bit.  After the speech she watched as Prince Aegon came and stood between her and Baela then said to Baela

" I regret the disappointment you are soon to suffer but if you ever wish to know what it is to be well satisfied, All you have do is ask, maybe you can even bring Rhaena" After Aegon said this Jacaerys stood from his seat and slammed his hands on the able Aemond stood up as well. Rhaena started to reach for her dagger, just in case someone decided to get violent.  Jacerys then started to make his own toast.

" To Prince Aegon and Prince Aemond, we have not seen each other in years, but I have fond memories of our shared youth. And as men, I hope we may yet be friends and allies. To you and your families, good health, dear uncles." After Jace said his speech Rhaena smirked she knows that would piss Aegon off, He wanted to get a reaction out of Jace, but she knew that it took a lot to make him mad. Helaena then rose from her seat and made a toast to Baela and Rhaena she threw a jab at Aegon which caused some people at the table to chuckle.

" Let there be music" Rhaena told the servants, then they started to play. Baela and Rhaena then started to talk, but they both watched as Jace asked Helaena to dance. They chuckled at the look on Aegons face.

" How were your travel's dear Rhaena" Baela asked with Curiosity

" It was fun I got to explore the realm for it true beauty" Rhaena spoke with contentment

" Will you leave again after we all go back home?" Baela asked Rhaena

" I was hoping so, but it seems that I can't anymore" Rhaena said this with a sad smile on her face, She never thought that coming back home would be a blessing and a curse but the mood suddenly changed when Rhaena noticed her Grandfather groaning in pain. She watched as her grandfather was taken away, she made a mental note to go and visit him later.

The servant's brought in a pig and put it in front of Prince Aemond. Rhaena chuckled a little remembering when the boys gave him a pig, Lucerys also chuckled. Aemond saw them both chuckling and slammed his fist onto the table and got up from his chair and said

" Final tribute, To the health of my nephews : Jace and Luke and Joffery each of them handsome, wise..." He paused for a moment and looked straight at Rhaena and smirked

" Strong" Queen Alicent tried to stop him, but he continued

" Come, let us drain our cups to these three strong boys"

" I dare you to say that again, Dear uncle" Rhaena said with a menacing gaze towards him

" Why? It was only a compliment to my nephews, do you not think them strong Rhaena?"

" Oh how can I forget you Rhaena Velaryon the realm's Desire and my soon-to-be whore"

Rhaena instantly stood up from her chair and was about to run towards him, but she was grabbed by Baela and so Jace punched him in his face, but she didn't see Aegon grab Luke and slam his face onto the table.

" Let go off me! I shall take his other eye and blind him for his vile words"Rhaena stopped her shouts when her mother grabbed her face and gave her the look, her mother then asked for the guards to take her to her chambers. Rhaena glared at Aemond as she walked out, but before she left she heard Alicent say to Rhaenrya.

" The Wedding shall be in a fortnight. They should spend time with one another from now on" Rhaenyra only smiled and looked at her daughter in concern because she knew that Rhaena would never warm up to the Idea of any man.

A/N :

Rhaena and Aemond are officially promised to one another, I honestly struggled with how I was going to do this scene because at first I was going to betroth them when Aemond lost his eye but I was like nahh that's pretty basic, I like to think that Alicent marrying Rhaena and Aemond together would make it seem as if Rhaenyra lost her greatest ally but we would have to see if Rhaena's loyalty is tested .
