THREE. never have i ever... seen a girl so sad

MAYBE KALANI was being dramatic when she broke up with Ben. But she was hurt that he'd brought Shira over so he could prove to his parents that he was capable of bringing a girl home when she (Kalani) was right there to present herself.

The shift in happiness or just Lani being Lani had been noticeable by her best friends.

Lani had been sitting at her desk, her hair disheveled as she rested her head on the desktop. She'd was a mess.

She had only seen these type of things happen in movies and she couldn't imagine herself being so sad over a guy... a guy of all things had Kalani walking around like her cat had just died mere minutes ago.

It was sickening.

But with both of their sick and sad behavior out of the way, it was time to introduce the new girl and she was already making things a living hell... for Devi at least.

She sneed to be making friends faster than anyone at school ever had and it was almsot pushing Devi off.

Aneesa seemed nice and everyone seemed to enjoy her company.

But Kalani didn't really get to know Aneesa that day. She practically skipped her free time to loathe in her heartbreak.

Fabiola joined her side and sat in silence for a moment, trying to find the best words for Kalani.

"Do you think I overreacted?" Kalani asked.

"You're like, ten times better than Shira." Fabiola said, "You're better off without Ben."

"Better off?" Kalani cried, "He's probably kissing the ground Shira walks on and I'm crying over him."

"I wouldn't go that far."

Kalani wiped her face, "Ben was my first boyfriend and I almost had sex with him. I think I might've... loved him."

"Love?"

Kalani knew that was a big feeling to have. She wasn't twelve years old, but she knew how she felt when she was with Ben and that was loved.

"Okay, Lani. We've gotta fix this, okay?" Fabiola said, standing to her feet, "I don't know what heartbreak feels like, but if it looks like this I don't want to feel it. And I don't want you to feel that way anymore. We're going to get you over Ben Gross right now."

"Fab, I appreciate it, but nothing is going change overnight."

"Which is why" Fabiola smiled, grabbing Kalani's hands and pulling her up, "we're going to get your mind off of him and onto something different."

After the school day drew to a close, Fabiola did everything in her power to make Kalani feel better.

And with all her might and almost staying up all night, Fabiola had pulled Kalani out of some sort of slump.

Their night consisted of karaoke and "hot girl shit" that Megan Thee Stallion would be absolutely proud of.

School had finally come back around and Fabiola and Kalani made their way towards her locker rapping What's New by Megan Thee Stallion.

That soon died down when Kalani saw Aneesa playfully push Ben back and the two of them letting out a couple of giggles.

"Remember what Megan said, okay." Jodie said quickly, "Middle finger out the roof. Just hold your finger high and your head higher."

Kalani nodded. Middle fingers to the sky and her held up high. Megan Thee Stallion was right. Tell a hater, "fuck you" and keep going.

It's all Kalani could do for now.
