The Rose Painting.

I walk down the hall & catch a flame in the corner of my eye. I stop dead in my tracks & spin around to see a new painting. It's not like one I've seen in here before. It's doused with red, yellow, & orange. A rose in the middle, red, but bordered with orange & a tint of yellow in the red. A single rose, in a field of green. Dew drops sliding off the individual peddles, tending to fall on the awaiting grass, making tiny splashes.

Each drop on the grass only making it glisten even more on the painting. The rose resealing a burning flame only to be covered in little sprinklets of rain drops. My eyes widen in awe, not believing how real the flame looks, shaped into an elegant rose.

As I look deeper into the painting I can see how the rims of the rose curve, little shades of mauve peeking out as if from behind a flame. As I take a step back, to marvel in it's awe a pair of lanky arms slip around my waist, causing me to jump in shock, only to realize who it was. A chin now resting on my left shoulder.

"What's you looking at?" A husky voices asks me from behind.

"This painting," I gesture to the one hanging in-front of a now two people. "It's amazing."

"You really like it?" He lifts his chin, surprised that I liked the panting.

"Yeah," I turn to face him, his arms still around my waist. "Did you..." I trail off, tilting my head to the right in question.

"All for you," He blushes.

I lean in to kiss his nose, only to end up kissing his lips, he's what makes me happy. With the little things he does to make me smile, laugh, or just feel warm in his presence. I pull out of the kiss & rest my arms on his shoulders.

"I love you." He says with a smile, full of confidence.

A tear rolls down my now red & warm face, to fall in-between my smiling lips. I tuck my head in his neck & whisper, "I love you too."

He tightens his grip on me & nuzzles his cheek into my head, wanting me to know he likes our position. I move my arms around his back & pull us closer closing the gap, smiling even more knowing now nothing separates us. I breath in slowly taking in his essence & only smiling knowing that he's all mine.

So we walk down the hall, hand-in-hand, our fingers intertwined lovingly. We walk into the room only wanting to be with each other, we lay in the bed ensconced in each others arms. Him laying his head on the soft pillow & me laying on his chest, wanting to hear the beat of his steady heart.

"Thank you." I say in a soft, but meaningful whisper.

He kisses the top of my head, "Only for the one I love."

I giggle, knowing that he does mean that & knowing that he does love me. When he lays his head down I kiss his cheek, then settle back down on his chest. The blue velvet cover up to right below my shoulder, my ear listing intently to his heart, his right arms around my waist, & his left arm under his head. My left arm tucked under my side, my right hand centered on his chest, next to my head.

He moves his hand out from under his head, to hold my free hand. "I love you, I really do." He pulls my hand up & kisses the back of it like a gentleman.

I laugh at his romantic ways & snuggle closer into his chest. "I know you do." I look up & see him smile. "I love you." I reply with a smile as well.

With that we fall asleep in each others embrace, whispering "I love you." a few more times, giggling at each others cuteness, & loving every minute of it.
