"A letter?"

You gingerly took the slip of paper.

The envelope was a pastel indigo, with a light orange lining. Pressing the paper between your index finger and thumb, the texture was different from most envelopes. A folded piece of paper was inside. You let out hum.

"...I don't think I've received a letter like this before."

"...?"

"I mean, in my locker."

"Oh." Satan scanned the item in your hand. "You mean you've never received a confession letter before?"

"A confession letter?" You repeated. "Oh! You mean those love letters people give in animes and stuff?"

"...So you haven't." Satan concluded by himself, prompting you to roll your eyes. With a shake of his head, he leaned his head closer to the envelope.

"It's a surprise how you've only received one now..."

And after connecting a few dots in his head, Satan didn't find it hard to discern who it had come from.

"I'll take that as a compliment, thank you very much." You carefully placed the envelope between the pages of your notebook. You then began to grab a few books in your locker. Satan raised a brow. "Aren't you gonna read it?"

"I'll read it later. Classes are about to start, and I don't wanna be late."

And so the envelope laid in your pocket as you progressed with your day. Lunch eventually came along. You went out into the courtyard.

"Get rid of the cat accessories, Satan." You sighed. He frowned. "But Lucifer banned cats from the House of Lamentation."

"Yes, and I am not going to sneak one in for you." You waved him off. You winced as you stepped onto a puddle of mud.

A shame it had rained a few hours ago...

With a subtle roll of your eyes, you stepped back. You stuffed your hand into your pocket. Then you grasped something. You pulled the envelope out. "Oh, right. I forgot about this."

"Still haven't read it yet?" Satan peered at the pastel indigo paper. No wonder you hadn't said anything about it.
