i don't know my parents very well,
and maybe i never will.
the only things i know are the things they've shown,
which isn't very much at all.
i've watched and read endless movies and books
about children confiding in their ever-loving parents.
parents who take them in with open arms,
who love their kids absolutely unconditionally
unconditional love,
like my parents, is something i don't know.
loving just for the fun of it,
loving just because you do.
having no asks, or wants, or needs, just
love.
but no.
unconditional love doesn't exist,
at least not in my world,
not with what they've shown.
i know love with conditions,
with rules and regulations.
but unconditional love?
i don't know it,
and maybe i never will
