ISABELLA AND NOAH ARE SIX YEARS OLD RIGHT NOW.
"Haha! Look at me, Noah, I'm up high!" Little Isabella giggled from the tree branch she was dangling upside down. Her long and wavy brown hair got in her face and she huffed, trying to get it to her side. Little Noah giggled along with her, playing kickball with the tree trunk below her.
Her green eyes sparkled when she saw an apple from a branch right beside her. She sat up and grabbed the fruit. Bella ate it with one hand while dangling her legs on the branch and hanging on to the tree trunk with the other.
The two kids played more games that afternoon, whether it be tag, hide and seek, or even red light, green light. While they played the last game, the rain started to rain heavily. "Bella, let's go get an umbrella. We'll get sick if we don't and I don't wanna get mom mad." Noah suggested. Isabella gave him a quick side-glance before grabbing his hands and rushing him to where the tree was again. "Or," Bella dragged on, "we could do something more fun," she grinned.
Noah hesitated once they got to the tree, "what do you mean?" Bella's eyes went to the large rain puddle in front of the tree. Noah followed where she pointed at. Bella looked at Noah in excitement just as Noah looked at her in fear. "Are you sure though, Bella? What if our moms get mad?"
She mischievously giggled and then ruffled his jet-black hair. "They won't notice, we'll be quick, I promise!"
"But Bella, you know if Mom sees me like this, what'll happen. It'll be no more days outside for me!"
Bella rolled her eyes, "Oh nonsense, you pretty prince. Sure, mother and the queen are strict about literally everything, but c'mon! It's just this!" Noah sighed loudly before agreeing.
Though their clothes were soaked entirely by the time they dashed to the kitchen hall and it earned them a long lecture of etiquettes from their parents, Noah had to admit, that evening of mischief was totally worth it.
Noah was in his nightgown, cuddled up in his bed and reading himself a book at night. When he turned to page 49, Bella opened the door by a little, in her white and long nightgown too. Noah tilted his head in question and was about to ask her, but she ran up and shushed him with her hands on his mouth and face darting between him and the door. "Why are you here?" he nervously whispered down at her once she let her hands go. She climbed up to his bed and sat beside him and sulked.
"Mama said I'm grounded for a few days because I got both of our clothes dirty. But I know she's only grounding me for bringing you into this." She then hit the back of her head on the headboard and groaned from its pain. "But I want to play outside! This isn't fair! We were just having fun, weren't we, Noah?" She looked over at her childhood best friend. He raised his brows but quickly nodded. "Y-yeah!" She grinned at him.
"Whatever, guess we're gonna have to bug good ol' Chef Roy for a week now. Or, we can beg to go to the flower garden. Chef Roy always lets us go to the flower garden when we ask," they both smiled to themselves at that. Chef Roy really babied them a lot. "Wait, we can explore the library again, I heard they brought new books, Noah!" She looked at him quickly for an approval. Noah figured she already had a list ready of what to do this week, so he just smiled and agreed.
He then beamed at a new thought. "Oh, yeah! I got this new book from the library a few days ago, too! Do you want me to read to you?" He looked at her to say yes. Noah loved reading books, but aloud, he only felt comfortable reading it to the ones he knew. Like his mom and Bella.
She nodded, "sure! What's it about?" Noah explained to her about the book before reading it to her. Soon, after many questions answered and thirty pages read, the two fell asleep together, worn out from all they did today but excited nonetheless for the next.
Minutes later, worried Queen Etoile and her sister-in law opened Noah's room because on nights where Bella wasn't asleep in her own room, she was in his. They were right to think so, and just smiled at their sleeping children. "They're a perfect match," Queen Etoile chuckled quietly in her hand. Her sister-in-law, Faye Daniella, smiled in return and then looked back at her daughter and then let out a long sigh. "Indeed, they are."
