"Why did you do it?"

Asling demanded, staring daggers at him.

"Why did you betray her like that?"

Asling added.

"Because she got in the way, a distraction."

"She loved you."

"She was a fool!"

Kierran roared.

"And for her foolishness she suffered."

He added.

"And now so shall you."

Swords clashed in the beginning of a fierce battle between master and apprentice. Asling wielded not only her own crystal sword but also that of her master.

"Shall the apprentice kill the master?"

Kierran taunted, raising a shadow black blade to block the assault of his apprentice. Asling didn't answer. Her brows were tight with concentration. She pulled her blades back and resulted to a quick use of magick.

"Proiecimus"

She breathed and Her master stumbled back with great force but not before he could use a spell of his own.

"Sequi!"

Kierran shouted and Asling felt herself being pulled back as he fell, like there was a rope around her waist. Kierran was thrown against an elegantly stained glass window with an image of his master created from colorful pieces of glass. Asling concentrated harder on her use of magick, pushing him harder against the window. She grabbed on to a near by statue of the first guardian of Pluto, gripping it's arm tightly to keep the magickal pull of her master from dragging her to him. Her teeth gnashed and she felt the pull on her tighten and strengthen as Kierran tried to counter her magick and pull her to him. She could hear glass splinter and Kierran let out a deep exhale that she heard in slow motion. The glass window shattered, Kierran was thrown outside and Asling, in her distraction, was pulled along with him.

Asling felt her body make a hard impact with the cold ground outside the castle. Dead grass crunched underneath her body as she groaned, pain surged through her limbs.

"Kierran..."

She breathed as she looked up. She saw her master slowly standing, obviously just as shaken as she was.

"I wont leave you."

She said as she tried to steady herself on her feet.

"Not again."

She added. She tried to walk over to Kierran, to help him up, but she was surprised to see him rise to his feet as if nothing had even happened to him. She was confused until he turned to face her and she saw his eyes were consumed with darkness.

"Then you will die, Asling."

He said, his voice gruff and void of emotion.

"What happened to you?"

Asling said, curiosity but also remorse laced her tone.

"What happened to the Kierran I knew?"

"The Kierran you knew was a lie."

He said, pulling his blade from the air and gripping it with two hands, ready to fight her. Asling reached for her swords and pulled them to defend herself one last time.

"Prohibere."

A glow faded from Asling's eyes and as it did so a single tear fell from her cheek. She knew what she had to do, the prophecy had to be fulfilled to save everything she had ever known. Her master froze, his feet stuck to the ground and his arm raised, sword in hand, ready to kill his former apprentice. Asling slowly walked up to him, his piercing blue eyes glared down at her from his still form.

"I wish I could say I hate you."

Asling said.

"It would make this all so much easier."

She added.

"But the problem is, I don't. I don't hate you, Kierran. You taught me everything I know about Magick, you trained me and parented me, and then you turned against me."

her voice was shaking.

"You became the very thing that I hate and yet I do not hate you."

She said. She gripped her swords more firmly, her knuckles turning white.

"Close your eyes."

She finally said and to her surprise Kierran actually did as she said, he closed his eyes and for the first time he seemed to be resting. He seemed to accept what was to come next. Asling had not accepted it but she knew she had to do it. Without giving it anymore thought she plunged her two swords up into his chest. She removed her spell on him, allowing him to move, and his body slumped as a final shaky breath left his lips.
