- Let's just go in.
I grabbed my friend's hand and dragged her to the door and opened it. The music echoed to the door. The cold rush down my spine turned to an inviting warmth being inside the building. The cold spring night couldn't give me a frozen feeling anymore. I untied my white vans and threw them on top of the pile of shoes in the corner where the clothing rack stood. The yellow walls surrounded the stairs going down to the main floor. I looked behind me, assuring my friend to come. She kept her black puffy jacket on her and scratched the back of her hair.
The music played in the background as people crowded every corner of the place. I could smell so many different things it was hard to even say what it was. The only thing I could tell is the smell of cigarettes from the entrance.
- I'm not gonna be here for long.
I heard the voice behind me quietly note. I heard people clapping and shouting. Couldn't see around the corner, but they were probably taking shots.
- You promised you're not gonna leave me this time.
I exclaimed and turned around to her. She looked unsure and fiddled with the ring on her middle finger. I sighed loudly. She has almost always left me here on my own, and I don't want it to happen again. I don't have many friends here anyway. Or well... I do. But they're not friends. They're "friends"
I finally took a step into the sea of people and made my way to the backroom. Most of the bearable people come here. I didn't even bother to look back at my friend, but I kinda just felt that she was following me. A few overheard conversations later I made it to the door. The smell of overly heavy deodorants and perfumes flooded my senses. I'm used to it, but I guess the certain someone behind me wasn't.
- Ohhh.. Hey Saraa - and... uhh...
The girl on the red couch shifted all attention to us. But... My attention wasn't on her but rather... Easton. What the fuck is he doing here?-
- Nikita...
The blonde girl said. The long pause after was broken by me clearing my throat. Samira really told me there would be no Easton or his friends this time. And now he clearly noticed that I kept staring at him and not anyone else. His response was just a smile, which dropped a literal nuclear bomb inside me. I saw Samira just grinning at me. I sat down in disbelief in the only chair left next to the door. Did I really just fall into one of Samira's bullshitting schemes? Yeah, I guess, and I'm mad at myself for not noticing that. Nikita sat on the floor next to me and went on her phone.
- You know - we could play truth or dare now that there are more people here...
You've got to be absolutely kidding me, right? Nikita looked up at me clearly uncomfy. I just sat there and rolled my eyes.
- Yeah sure.
The brunette boy said smiling. He elbowed Easton next to him and laughed slightly. Easton just pretty much ignored him and quietly nodded. Little did you know, I have eyes, Vincent. I know you're trying to say something about me to Easton.
- You must be kidding Samira. I'm not playing this... Stupid game...
I muttered to her. She just looked at me with raised eyebrows and then giggled. I know she's gonna try to get me to kiss Vincent again. I don't even like him anymore although he is handsome and funny, just not really not my league.
- What? Are you scared?
She told me, then giggled some more. I am scared sure, but I also don't get the deal over this whole ordeal of truth or dare. It's kind of obvious you're trying to get me to kiss someone. It's better to lie I guess:
- I mean - not really. It's just a stupid game.
It looked like I told her the best joke available to the public. She's quite obviously had some drinks, but it's not as obvious when she's not laughing. I could still feel all the eyes on me from the guys sitting on the edge of the pool table with red cups in their hands. I looked up and sighed to finally realize she was not gonna stop from me saying no to her face.
- Okay fine I guess I have to.

I sat on the floor with Nikita next to me. I had to literally be right next to her because of course of all people Vincent sat on the other side of me.
- Okay hmmm. Matthew, you can start.
The red-haired girl from the other side of the ring said. Matthew just sighed and grinned.
- Easton, truth or dare?
Matthew passed on the question to his best friend next to him. Easton thought long and hard about it and finally got an answer out of himself:
- Dare...
The dark blonde boy held in a laugh. I completely got confused when he said dare. I thought he'd evade the whole option, but I guess he's trusting his best friend enough for this. I'd be terrified to death if I ever let my friends decide the dares I have to do...
- I dare you to do 7 minutes in heaven with whoever this bottle spin lands on.
He set the empty glass bottle onto the floor and spun it around. I watched in horror as the bottle lost its momentum going around in laps. The red bottle cap pointed at everyone at a time. I bit my cheek to cope. Finally, the friction of the floor stopped the bottle from spinning. It slowly turned around in my direction. I felt myself staring at the bottle and getting extremely anxious. Nikita looked at the floor, then me, and then up at Easton.
- Who even is it pointed at?
I said under my breath. Vincent pretty much just looked at the bottle and then up at me:
- It does look like It's pointed at you-
I rolled my eyes at him and smiled sarcastically.
- No Vincent I think you're just blind. It's just the slightest on the blondie's side.
Matthew looked over at the bottle and then at us. Nikita then cleared her throat and finally spoke up:
- Sorry- I don't think I can do this...
Samira snickered at this and Matthew got a pretty confused expression on his face. Nikita was serious, I knew it from her tone of voice. Vincent just stayed quiet and looked away at Easton who pretty much just shrugged.
- Are you serious?
- She said she doesn't wanna do it.
I repeated her words. Samira just looked at me like she'd never heard about people having their own choice. Nikita hugged her knees and took turns looking at me and then Samira.
- Being a pussy doesn't belong in the rules of the game, honey.
She got petty really fast. I just looked at her like I was demented and got up on my feet. It was my turn to give a little chuckle and then a poker face. She got up as well and honestly thought I'm trying to fight her right then and there. I just turned around in her face:
- I'm done. I'm so done.
I walked out of the room the quickest my long legs got me. I couldn't stand this bullshit anymore.

I looked into the darkness of the streets. The only light beyond the small porch of the school was the lit up soccer field farther from the hill. My cold breath showed up in front of me lightly. I heard the door next to me open and saw the light coming from inside. I heard the light snow layer on the porch scrunch underneath the person's shoes. They sighed and sat next to me. It was Vincent. He rubbed his hands together to keep warm in the cold. He shuffled his hands into his pockets.
- You alright?
He asked. I'd never heard his voice so soft, especially talking to me...
- Yeah I'm fine.
My voice was shaky from the cold but I couldn't even feel it at this point. It struck midnight and it started to become a lot windier. He paused for a second.
- You cold?
I exhaled and let out a cold gasp to be swept up into the wind. I could see some snowflakes falling from the sky slowly. I sniffled a bit and just sat there silently, not sure if I should answer. I heard something behind me and then felt the warmth swarming back to my cold body. I saw the familiar orange puffy jacket sleeves hanging from my shoulders. My face felt red but my eyes were rather heavy to keep open.
- Sara?-
I heard him but my head just fell toward him. I felt my head hitting his cold shoulder. My ears started to hurt from the cold but I couldn't get up at all. I was tired. I just closed my eyes and listened to the wind and Vincent's quiet breathing. I heard the door opening once more next to me but I didn't bother. It could just be some people leaving the party or something. I just don't wanna think about it all anymore. I didn't hear footsteps or anything going by. Just the door closing again. Nothing less, nothing more.
