The summer where everything changed

One

Dear Diary,
Its finally summer. My favorite season of all. I have been waiting for this moment all year and it has finally came.
Every summer we go to Cousin's beach with my mom Lola and brother Stanley, along with my mom's 2 best friends Susanna with her 2 son's Conrad and Jeremiah, and laurel with her 2 kids Steven and Isabel but we call her belly.
I have always had a crush for on Jeremiah since we were five. The sad thing is that I know that Jeremiah has only seen me as his best friend but I see him as more than that. Susanna always said that Belly and I were destined for one of her boys. That we were met to be . But I always hope that it was true and it will be Jeremiah. This summer is gonna be different. In December of last year I lost my mom in a deadly car crash. Ever since then Stanley has been working his ass off just to make sure i live a good life. Stanley and I did everything together. But Stanley now works 3 jobs which has separated us from doing everything together. I was able to get a babysitting job to help him out because I didn't want him doing everything all by himself. Susanna and laurel has been sending us money to help us out. My dad is out off the picture, and the only real family I got is Stanley.

"MYA HURRY UP WE GOT TO GET GOING!" Stanley shouts
"ALRIGHT IM GOING!" I shout back
I quickly close my diary put it in my bag along with books about romance in there and ran down stairs with it.
"IM HERE" I say
" finally!!! Let's get our asses on the road so we can get on that plane, It's a 6 hour flight" He says
It's an 1hr and a half drive to the airport.
On the way there Stan and I were singing our hearts out. Good thing is that we have the same taste in music.

The car ride seemed quick due to us singing our hearts out, Laughing, and enjoying the view around us. Soon enough we made it to the airport, We check in, and all we need to do is wait to be able to get on our flight. 40 mins later our flight was called to let people on board. We look for our seats which were in the middle of the plane. Thankful I saved some movie that I can watch without internet.
In our time on the plane we watched tangled, The parent trap 1&2, Cruella, Jungle Cruise, Captain Marvel, Meets the Robinsons, Thor Ragnarok, Let it Shine, and Onward.
6hrs pass and we made it to Massachusetts.
We rent a car and drive to our favorite place .

I loved this drive, this moment. Seeing the town again, Jimmy's Crab Shack, the Putt Putt, all the surf shops. It was like coming home after you'd been gone a long, long time. It held a million promises of summer and of what just might be. As we go closer and closer to the house, I could feel that familiar flutter in my chest. We are almost there.
I rolled down the window and took it all in. The air tasted just the same, smelled just the same. The wind making my hair feel sticky, the salty sea breeze, all of it felt just right. Like it had been waiting for me to get there. Sometimes it feels so unreal.

We slowly start approaching to the house.
We park and I quickly check if I look good. Stanley honks 3 times to let them know that we have arrived. Susanna comes out running and hugs us both tight. Behind her was laurel walking along with the kids except Jeremiah behind her
"Oh my dear babies!" Susanna said
" hi Susanna!" Stan and I said in sync
We say hi to everyone else.
I was wondering where jere was until I see him coming.
He says hi to Stan first.
And that's when we locked eyes
My heart starts beating fast. Butterflies rush in my stomach. The feeling I get everytime when I see him.
" look who came all grown up" says Jeremiah
"Hi!" I said
We both run to each other
He picks me up and spins me
At that moment I just felt like I was a part of a Disney princess movie.
He slowly puts me down making eye contact only inches away.
Until Steve and Stan spoke
"Uhh hey hey guys.... I mean I-I don't know about you.... But i-I think it's time...." Steven says
"FOR A BELLY FLOP" the boys say in sync
This is one of our traditions on our first day in cousins.

Belly runs behind me
And the boys trying to get her.
I always try to help belly but it's always a no good
The boy always get her and throw her into the pool
But they always get me too so I try to hide while they get belly.
But this time they planned it out.
Jeremiah and Stan were chasing me while Conrad and Steven chase belly
Jeremiah always had a way to stop me from whatever I am doing.
While I was running Jeremiah tricked me by saying he was doing it for fun, that it was a joke.
And me having a crush on him and being his best friend I believed him of course.
They ended up picking me up and ran to the pool where Steven and Conrad had belly in their arms waiting for us.
They counted
" 3...2...1" the boys yelled
And me and belly were off
Belly was able to trick Conrad on thinking she hurt her ankle
And I was able to trick Stan and jere on thinking I hit my head. Steven didn't help bc he knows me and belly always have pranks in our minds so he jumped in as well, we are all playing. Jere and I play fight. Splashing each other in the face. I dunked jere and he pulled me under with him. We were so close to each other's only 2inches away from kissing. He has his hands on my waist and mine on his shoulders. The silence under water was perfect cause it felt like it was just us and the world. 5 minutes later I went to me room dried myself, changing my clothes, and combing my hair.
And I went to my bed and sat there thinking about what happened.
And I opened my diary.
