Chapter 43: Setting A Date

Start from the beginning

"I'm so sorry, Fay."

"The siren was the Republic coming to help us. Apparently the prison was big enough for the Republic to take notice. Someone shot open our door and told us to run. Rune and I, we tried. He was limping the whole time and I was supporting him. We were only about fifty feet away from the one of the Republic's LAATs... and we heard a blast. The next thing I remember was being carried to the LAAT by someone in clone armor. I think the color was the same as yours, Sid's, and Bly's. But I was drifting in and out of consciousness, so I'm not really sure."

"Wait. Fay, was that on Alliga? In the outer rim?"

"I- I think so. That sounds like what Dhara told me."

"I am pretty sure I can finish the story for you."

"How?"

"The 327th did, in fact, go to Alliga to save some Republic prisoners of war. We were expecting clones, to be honest. That blast you heard? Explosion from Separatist command on Alliga. They blew their own base up to try and stop us. I was just outside when I heard it, so I sprinted towards the ship. I would have been killed if it wasn't for my armor. As I ran closer to the LAATs, I saw so many people who were killed in the blast. The one that sticks out most was a Mirialan man." Reno looked down at Faylin.

"Was Rune a Mirialan? I'm assuming he is since he's Dhara's son and she's Mirialan."

"He was, yes."

"I- I tried to save him, Fay. I swear I did. I started to pick him up and Caro-" Reno paused. "Caro was Bly's best friend, the best of all of the clones. Not in fighting, per se, but in heart. He took Rune and told me to get the girl." He looked down at Faylin, who was still resting her head on his shoulder. "Fay, I am almost confident she's you. How did I not realize that before? So I picked- who I am assuming is you- up and I heard about five bones crack."

Faylin looked up in astonishment. "My leg- in two different places, my arm in two, and my hand. Five broken bones from the explosion. Holy kriff it was you!" She had an astonished look plastered on her face. "There was a mark on the chest plate, like a small "x" carved above your heart. That's on your armor, right?"

"Yeah, for the brothers I lost."

Faylin sat up so that she was looking Reno in the eyes. "You saved my life, Reno. I- Thank you."

"I- that's insane. Are you sure it was me? Am I sure it was me?"

"Reno."

"What?"

"All the details match up. Tell me the rest, that might help."

"Well, I carried you to the LAAT and we flew off onto the Liberty. I got you to the Sid's medbay as soon as I could. There were only about thirty people from the entire prison. I wish I could have saved more. Somehow Sid figured out that you were from Sicemon." Reno paused for a second.

"That's weird. He would have said something about that when we decided to move here. I'll ask him about that later. Anyways, I kept coming in the medbay to check on everyone, so much so that Sid kicked me out at one point." He laughed a little. "I'm pretty sure you were in one of the Liberty's bacta tanks for a week."

"It healed my bones, but not the scar." She finished his thought.

"What scar?"

"Part of my back was burnt in the explosion. That's why I wore a t-shirt when we all swam on Coruscant."

"Fay, we all have scars. You don't have to hide it. Aayla has a huge scars all over her back and arms that were visible during the war. It drove Bly crazy because he was always telling her to wear armor so she wouldn't die, but she never did. And the one time she couldn't wear armor at all was when she got the scars. A whole wall fell on her during an undercover mission."

"The one on Simocadia?"

"Yeah, that one." Reno paused. "I'm so sorry, Fay. I wish we could have saved you and Rune so much sooner."

"Don't be. It's okay."

"No, it's not. It's not fair you had to go through that."

"It's not fair you had to go through a whole war without a choice. I made my choice to join."

Reno stared at Faylin with a small smile. "That's the compassion that I was talking about."

Faylin's light blue skin turned a darker shade.
"Fay?"

"I'm sorry about earlier. I got a little too dramatic."

"Don't apologize. I most definitely would have done the same thing if you put me in that position. I'm sorry about that, by the way."

"Holomovie?" Faylin questioned with a cheesy smile.

"On one condition. Maybe two." Reno compromised.

"Okay?" Faylin's answer was more like a question.

"Number one, no more secrets."

"Deal."

"Number two, seal the deal with a kiss?" He asked sheepishly.

"Yes, you di'kut."

.oOo.
Hey readers! I really wanted to include a little bit of Faylin's backstory and obviously make sure that Faylin and Reno ended up together. None of you probably ship them as much as I do (lol).
Anyways, the next chapter focuses on Aayla and Bly. 😁
