Chapter 1

Hi. My name is Adraline Butter Lee. My friends call me all different things. This book was recommended by Kyle, my interesting friend. I live in a world called Iris. It's 14,000,605 light years away from Earth. We look like the Korean or Chinese people of Earth. In Iris, there are four social standings. The Roynals, The Nobvals, The Comnals, and The Slavs. I'm Adrian. The hidden standing of the Irises. We used to be the highest standing in Iris. I have one brother, Timothy Sirius Lee. My brother and I are the future leaders of the Adrians. We were trained since birth to be leaders. I have three friends. Kyle, the previously mentioned interesting friend. Ky is a Slav. Her hair is light pink. Her mom and she work everyday at the factories. Ky has two twin sisters, Maya and Ashley. She's interesting. A bit off and not an usual child but in my situation, I can't judge her. Ky and I met when I was five. Ky's a few years younger than me. Two years to be exact. Ky calls me Butter. I have no idea why. My next friend is Jay. Jay and I have been friends since we were babies. Jay and I are the same age. He's Adrian. Jay is my crush. He has no idea and the only person I've told is dead now. My father but I'll tell you about that a little bit later. My next friend is Jay's absolute enemy and Jay hates that I hang out with him. Alex is a Nobval. His father is a high official of the Roynal rule and he's engaged to the princess. Ace hates being a Nobval and frequently comes to hang out with me and Jay. Ky only comes late at night after factory work. Sometimes I think Jay and Ky like each other. Anyways, it's time for Ky's visit. I head down to the abandoned warehouse where we hang out. On the way, I pick up Ace.
"Hey guys." I say, swinging down from the steel bars on the roof and Ace slides down the rope we installed for him and Ky. We always come from the roof so that we don't get caught.
"Hey, Butter." "How's your day been, Ky?" I ask. "It's been good, I guess."
"Hey Adri." "Ey Jay." I say, fist bumping him. "Oh look. It's the Nobval." "Jaaaaay. Stop bothering him." I smack Jay on the head.
"Hey Jay." "What, Noble boy." "Jay." I say in a stern voice. "Okay gods. Why are you so protective?" "I'm not even going to." I say leaning back in my chair. As usual, Jay puts his foot behind my chair so I don't go toppling into Narnia. And another usual, Ky shifts toward Jay, away from Ace. Now that I'm thinking about it, it might not be because she likes Jay but she's anxious about Ace. "Ky, come here." I whisper to her. She immediately dashed over to me and my theory was proven correct. I whispered in her ear, "Ky, you know that Ace won't hurt you, right?" "Yep, but it doesn't help that I'm a Slav and he's a Nobval." "But Ky, you might be hurting his feelings." "Oh. Yeah." "Even though you might be uncomfortable, he might be too. Think that way and you'll be fine." As to prove my point, Ace continued to squirm in his seat under Jay's glare. I smack Jay's head one more time and Ky comfortably moved back to her original seat in ease. "Adri. You're gonna give me brain damage." "Let's go. We've gotta drop Ky so her mom doesn't worry." Jay and I made sure that Ky went home safely and say goodbye to Ace. Or rather I say bye to Ace. Jay just focused on steering me towards the Adrian camp.
