Returning home after a long day working at her art studio, Yeji dragged her feet across the front door.

"I'm home", she announced with just enough energy, hoping her girlfriend would catch it, but all that returned was silence.

"That's weird", Yeji mumbled to herself "Is Ryu out today?" as she walks through the all too dark and quiet apartment that Ryujin and her shared, ending up on the living room sofa.

Taking a minute to relax, she then pulled out her phone checking to see if there were any text messages from her girlfriend. Pouting upon finding nothing, Yeji decided to dial Ryujin's phone, only to be met with an automated message telling her that the number cannot be reached at the moment. Yeji starts to worry, messaging their mutual friends, Chaeryeong, Lia, and Yuna, asking if anyone has heard from Ryujin in the past few hours.

While Lia and Yuna said they haven't, Chaeryeong, Ryujin's best friend who seems a bit too suspicious, told her not to worry but refuses to tell Yeji what Ryujin was up to. It did calm her down though to hear that Ryujin is fine, deciding to get up from the sofa and take a shower, hoping her girlfriend would be back by the time she's done washing up.

After 40 minutes, Yeji finally stepped out of the bathroom in their shared bedroom, hearing rumbling noises from the kitchen of their apartment, indicating that Ryujin is finally back. With both excitement and worry about her girlfriend, Yeji rushed out of their bedroom without bothering to fully dry her hair.

Ryujin, who was preparing ingredients for their dinner, heard the noise of her girlfriend rushing towards her and as Yeji came in front of her, about to ask questions, Ryujin pulled her girlfriend into a tight hug.

"Sorry, I couldn't tell you I would be late today. Phone died" Ryujin chuckled before letting Yeji who had a pout on her face go. Smiling at the cute sight in front of her, Ryujin gave a kiss on Yeji's forehead, later pointing out that she should dry her hair. Yeji, still with a pout, hits Ryujin's arm lightly, complaining that she was worried about her, causing Ryujin to let out a small laugh, finding the taller girl adorable and apologizing.

As Ryujin was cooking pasta for their dinner, Yeji went back to their bedroom to dry her hair, coming back out once she was done. As she was setting up the table, she noticed a bottle of wine that Ryujin had picked up. It wasn't just any bottle of wine either, it was an expensive one, which was unusual because Ryujin does not enjoy wine at all. Looking at Ryujin's back, who was still focused on cooking their pasta, Yeji starts to question if she is missing any important dates.

Failing to recall any important event that she might've forgotten about, she calls out to Ryujin asking her directly.

"Babe?"

Ryujin turned around to look at Yeji with a curious look on her face, "Yes babe?"

"Am I missing something important today?"

Ryujin, now with a confused look on her face, still looking at Yeji, "What do you mean baby?"

"Expensive bottle of wine, you're in a shirt while cooking at home?" Yeji points out with a determined look on her face.

Ryujin, understanding what Yeji meant, starts to laugh, turns back for a minute to finish cooking up the pasta, before turning off the stove entirely. Yeji who just stood in place, pouting at how Ryujin was definitely having fun with how confused she was. Ryujin then walked up to Yeji, using both her hands to cup Yeji's cheeks and leaving a kiss on her girlfriend's pouty mouth and she finally said, "You're not missing any important dates Yeji, I just wanted to do something special with my favorite girl on an ordinary day." Making Yeji melt once again into her touch and just her.

"Are you not hot?" Yeji asks Ryujin as they were eating dinner. "Shin Ryujin wearing a shirt buttoned up all the way at home? With no sleeves rolled up?" Yeji eyes Ryujin suspiciously, making Ryujin pout.

"Hey! Why can't I dress nicely at home?" Ryujin playfully glares at Yeji who has an amused look on her face.

"Did you get yourself in trouble?" Yeji suddenly asked, looking straight into Ryujin's eyes now, somehow causing the latter to start coughing. Yeji poured some wine into a glass and gave it to her poor girlfriend who was still coughing. Now that she knew that her girlfriend was definitely up to something, she sighed and waited for Ryujin to stop coughing before asking her.

"Okay what did you do Shin Ryujin?" Looking straight into her girlfriend's face again.

"Okay first off" Ryujin starts, "I didn't get myself into trouble, well it depends on you whether I'll be in trouble or not" Ryujin says as she's trying to avoid Yeji's intense stare at her face.

Sighing, Yeji asks, "What did you do?"

Ryujin didn't say anything and instead started to roll up the left sleeve of her shirt, revealing a new tattoo still wrapped up on her forearm. Yeji, surprised to see that her girlfriend has just gotten a tattoo, was even more surprised that the tattoo was all too familiar. It was an artwork that Yeji sketched at their favorite spot together. Still with a surprised look on her face, Yeji unknowingly reached out her hand towards Ryujin's forearm, tracing her fingers carefully over the wrap that was protecting the new tattoo. Ryujin had a small smile on her lip as she quietly observed Yeji's reaction.

"What do you think?" Ryujin finally asks after a couple of minutes have passed. Hearing no response from Yeji, she kept going, looking at Yeji's face who was still focused on her forearm "You know I love your artworks, and well you. I wanted to have a reminder of you, of us, somewhere I can always see, so what better place than my own body." Ryujin said almost as if she was whispering.

Hearing that, Yeji finally looked back at Ryujin with tears threatening to fall from her eyes, surprising Ryujin causing her to stand up and make her way to Yeji's side.

As Ryujin got to her side of the table and was about to kneel next to Yeji who was still sitting, the taller girl stood up from her chair and threw herself into Ryujin's embrace. Ryujin was surprised with the sudden impact, but quickly wrapped her arms around Yeji who was now sobbing onto her shoulders.

"I'm sorry baby, are you upset? Maybe I should've-" before Ryujin could ramble on any longer, she felt Yeji look up from her shoulder, their eyes meeting and not a second later, Yeji was kissing her. They kiss often, everyday, but somehow the kiss that they were sharing at that moment just felt different, it was so gentle, with so much love, Ryujin felt like she was going to fly.

Breaking from the kiss a moment later to catch their breath, Ryujin used her thumb to gently wipe the tears from Yeji's face. Now looking at each other and smiling, Yeji finally said her first words about the tattoo, "It's beautiful"

Letting out a relieved sigh, Ryujin said "I know. It's your work, it's you. It's almost as beautiful as you are" looking into Yeji's eyes, making sure Yeji heard every word loud and clear.

Ryujin then reached out into the back pocket of her pants, bringing out a small velvet box. Not breaking eye contact with Yeji, she kneeled down on one knee, opening the box to show two matching rings inside. Before Yeji could say anything, Ryujin let out a nervous sigh before saying,

"I know I'm not perfect, I will never be, but when I'm with you, Yeji, I feel like I can achieve anything and everything. Your voice, your touch, your kiss, your art, and just you always make me feel like I'm a child discovering candy for the first time again. I want pieces of you to be parts of me always and that's why I got the tattoo. My favorite spot in my favorite artwork by my favorite person. I want to be your canvas and I want to draw a whole new future with you if you allow me to. Will you marry me Hwang Yeji?"

Ryujin is not one to believe in god, but she swore in that moment, while down on one knee, she was silently praying inside her mind that Yeji would give her a nod. And as if god was really present, Yeji nodded her head and pulled Ryujin up into an embrace before she could even process the information that Hwang Yeji just agreed to marry her.

Later that night, Ryujin and Yeji were laying in bed together, clothes discarded around their apartment, matching rings on their fingers, Yeji's fingers tracing Ryujin's tattoo over and over, and Ryujin swears that life has never been as perfect as tonight.
