Here I sit, with a blank screen in front of my eyes. My laptop's fans start to rev up, to try and cool down this hot summer day. Writing my first words, I'm still lost in what to write. I try to apply the advice mom gave me, to not lift your pen from the paper. That advice is quite hard to do with a laptop, seeing as there is no pen.

My cat runs around my feet, asking for some food. I already gave you food, like 10 minutes ago. C'mon mellow.

The table is white. The chairs as well. I'm sitting in my garden. Me and my cat, my thoughts and my laptop. There is no better combination.

Out of the corner of my eye I see something scurry into the hedge. Must be a mouse, or a rat. Mellow gets scared and runs inside. Scaredy cat. He's always been quite scared of everything and anything.

I hear stomping behind the hedge. Must be the neighbors. I look at the big window giving a view of my living room and see mellow looking outside, scared. The stomping behind the hedge gets louder. It sounds almost metallic. It's coming closer.

I am fixated on the hedge. Ready to sense any change that might appear. My laptop revs its fans down. I can hear everything. The stomping behind the hedge starts to sound like footsteps. They really are getting closer. I can faintly see a light shine through the hedge. I wonder what it might be. I stand up, walk towards the hedge and peer through. Nothing. The hedge is too thick to see through.

My cat walks back outside and joins me next to the hedge. The stomping of metallic feet moves farther and farther as my cat gets bored and lays down. A 10/10 loaf, no paws to be seen here.

I go back to my laptop, it has turned off. Did 5 minutes really already pass? Strange. I try to wake my laptop, but to no avail. The battery must be dead.

I go to plug in my laptop, inside. I put it down next to the piano. That's when I see mellow staring at something. I look in the direction he's looking. My long garden, seemingly way longer than it ever was. I notice it. All the way at the back, next to the gate.

A little red light. Dancing away. It must be a laser or something. I don't know if any of the neighbors have lasers. I look at my cat. He looks at me. I feel a little distressed. My head starts aching. It's late. I better go to sleep, so I have more time to live tomorrow.

I'm in bed. My sheets have a pattern of black and white boxes. My cat is downstairs, probably sleeping away. I close my eyes.

I'm pondering. What was that red light? And what did I saw scurry into the hedge? Suddenly I hear it again. The stomping of metal on metal.

It's coming from outside my window. I try to ignore it. Must be something the neighbor's doing. It keeps getting louder. And louder. It's getting closer, I can feel it. Whatever it is. The sound abruptly stops. It has stopped, I think to myself. I continue to try and sleep.

Suddenly I hear knocking. My head starts to ache again. This is worse than last time. The knocking sounds weird. Like it's being played from a speaker.

I realize I left my laptop plugged in, and I don't want to ruin the battery life. I get up and head downstairs. While on the stairs I think to myself: I should get some medication against this headache. It's getting worse as I walk down. I walk into the living room.

I see it. Outside the big window giving a view on my garden is a big creature. Or could you even call it a creature? I don't have time to think before the headache transforms into a migraine. I fall onto the floor, screaming out from the pain. I get one last glimpse of the creature. I see a red light dance around.

Blank screen. I don't see anything anymore. I can't feel my body. My headache is gone. It's like a weight has been lifted. I am free.
