He was hot, dreamy, and had the intelligence of a headless chicken. She did not see what Elenor saw in her. The guy was just about as interesting to talk to as a brick wall. So no reply there. It was as if he had been missed when they were handing out personalities. But she knew it was best to stay out of the way when it came to El and guys.
It was Monday. The day of torcher and pain. The day of beginning. The day when El would always go up to her crush, scare off his other admirers and then leave without a word to the now lonely jock. The day when Cara would kill her sempai's sister. The day she would sit alone, while her friends went after their crushes. It was a lonely existence.
"Come on! Just ask my brother on a date! He has liked you forever."
"No I think I would prefer to keep my dignity, and my head." I repeated to my idiot friends.
"If you had to date any guy in the school, who would it be?"
Cara spoke with her usual curious tone.
"I'M TAKEN!!"
"Come on, you. Sorry, it doesn't really fit?" Elenor sniggered
"Wait— Who is the lucky boy?"
Kat just stared at them, and then her toes. She couldn't tell them about Lili. Why did she have to open her big mouth!
"Share, or you can just admit your lying and date my brother." El said annoyed.
She couldn't deal with these idiots anymore. Kat turned and ran. The biggest mistake was hanging with them in the first place. She kept running for as long as her legs could carry her. They would forgive her, right? Mel drifted into her mind and regret sank in. They wouldn't. If she didn't mysteriously disappear by morning, she would be gone by the end of the week.
They used to be a big group. It was now just 4 at this school, but she knew there were more at others. The people had disappeared one at a time. Each just after arguing with the top. The same thing she had just had.
The walls were shrinking as each of her missing friends' names floated in and out of her own head. There screams. Their smiles. It was making the world collapse on top of her. Kat collapsed. Screaming as she sunk deeper into her mind. The gruff stones were now touching her knees. Her breath staggered. She had let them die. She should have done something, anything. Now their fate was hers as well. If she survived the memories, the guilt.
