I slowly walked down the dark street trying to stay hidden in the shadows. Only a few street lights were on but I still couldn't risk getting caught. This stupid town I lived in had an obnoxious curfew of 10 during the week and 11 on the weekends. It was horrible, what kind of high school senior gets back to the house at 10? Not me. Jace and I used to go out, no. Don't think about him. You've tortured yourself enough with that. Whatever, focus on getting home unseen.
I turned onto my street and looked up at our house. We lived in the middle of the street in the middle of the town. Perfect place to get away with stuff because who's going to look in the dead middle of the town at midnight for teens. The bad kids stay on the edges of town. That always made it easy for me and Jace to... STOP. Don't bring the memories up. It's been 5 months, why are you still thinking about him?
I saw the curtains to my window blowing gently in the breeze up ahead. I left the window open when I left so I could easily get back in. Just one street light left to get through and then I was in the dark until I reached the house. I stepped into the light and began walking when a siren sounded loudly behind me. I jumped caught completely surprised by the sudden noise. After the moment of shock, I began running towards my house but I wasn't fast enough. The police car slid to a stop in front of me.
Unwillingly, I stopped and looked into the car but I couldn't see who it was. It was dark and the windows were tinted.
The door opened to the car and out stepped a light haired Police officer. He wasn't facing me yet so I could only see his hair but as soon as he turned around I knew exactly who this was.
"Really Allison, don't you know what time curfew is? Or maybe you can't tell time and don't know what time it is now?" called out the horribly obnoxious voice,
"Don't call me that. It's not my name." I growled at the officer.
"Alright, fine then Katrina," he started.
"Can you PLEASE just call me Kat like every other person on the planet?" I asked sarcastically.
"Now, Now, is that any way to talk to your oldest brother?" he coed softly. He reached out to grab my arm but I slapped his hand away harshly.
"Allison, if," he started.
"That's not my name. That's her name. I want NOTHING to do with her. Just call me Kat." I screamed at him. Allison was my mothers name. The mother that abandoned me, my father, and two brothers. She didn't even give me the satisfaction of some lame excuse, she just left in the middle of the night.
Of course, Walter didn't care, he hated her anyway and was just counting the days until he could leave but I loved her and so did my older brother Michael.
"Look, Allison," I growled when he called me That name, "I'll let you off with a warning if you get back inside right now."
Without even acknowledging what he said, I ran over to the window and climbed up the tree that grew there. And into the window. I closed the window and quietly slipped into bed.
Nervously, I thought about tomorrow. The first day of school tomorrow. The first day without Jace there with me. Unwillingly thinking about Jace, I fell asleep.

I groaned as the obnoxious alarm clock went off. It was sitting on the white desk on my wall about 5 ft from the bed which meant I had to stand up to shut it off. So finally, when I couldn't take the beeping anymore, I grumpily forced myself to stand up and walk over to shut it up.
Today was the first day of senior year at my high school, Bloomingdale high school. I'd been dreading it since the beginning of last summer when Jace left. Too tired to care, I let the memory come.
