Whilst jumping and running through the trees his growl echoed through the forest. His eyes fired red with rage as he closed in on his prey, eager to get the kill at last. As the beautiful midday summer sky turned black and ash fell from the sky, he could almost smell his prey. Jumping from a treeroot that stuck out of the ground to jump on his prey, Wolf was awakened from his slumber by a whistle.
He opened his eyes to see Aroa, a beautiful slender woman with heterochromia, one eye grey and the other light blue. Her strawberry-red hair, tied up in a sloppy top knot, waved as the wind flew beside her into the small cabin. She grabbed her rifle hanging beside the door and strapped it over her shoulder as she signaled Wolf to follow her outdoors. Wolf stood up from the old dusty oak wooden floor and walked passed her to meet her outside. Letting the door close behind her the two walked off into the distance, her arm resting against the butt of her rifle as Wolf walked obedient by her side. After some walking she sat down on the bank of a small hill, looking down on a small valley. Strapping her rifle loose from her shoulder she slowly adjusted her position and looked through her scope. As if Wolf knew exactly what she was looking at he crouched down and slowly crept besides her. Aroa was dead quiet as she slowly followed her target with her scope. As she softly lifted her finger and released her gun's safety mechanism, Wolf softly growled, knowing the shot could come any second now.
The gorgeous scenery was interrupted when all of a sudden a lot gunshot echoed through the small valley. Wolf chased immediately after the bullet, growling and his eyes turning red with rage while he picked up his pace. Aroa lowered her rifle and watched Wolf run off in to the valley. Grabbing in her pocket, she pulled out a freshly rolled cigarette which she lit and started to smoke. A loud screeching sound could be heard following a terrifying growl as she looked towards the blue sky, exhaling smoke from her cigarette. Wolf had arrived at the body and bit down the prey's neck to shred it open and finish the kill. His posture changed as he noticed it was a young girl, not older than 12. Pressing his nose against her clothes and calmingly smelling her scent he crawled up beside her, softly whimpering. As Wolf raised his head towards to sky he let loose a long devastating howl, making Aroa look his direction.
Wolf's eyes closed as he laid against the dead girl's body, the wind gentle flew through his fur when suddenly he felt a hand stroking his body. As Wolf slowly open his eyes he saw the dead girl, now back alive and laughing innocently. The sky wasn't blue anymore murky and dim, the valley had disappeared into a flat surface. The girl continued to pat Wolf as he softly rubbed his head against her chest. Wolf stood up and walked away but stopped in his tracks to look at the girl. The girl laughingly ran to Wolf and they both walked into what seemed an endless void of nothingness. As the girl giggling skipped beside Wolf a light appeared in the distance and some distant voices could be heard, all though it wasn't clear what they said. When they neared the light they both stopped and the voices became clear, a family cheerfully calling out the girl's name.
"Agata, come here, how long your father and I have awaited this moment!": a soft female voice happily said.
"Let us embrace again at long last, Agata, my little angel!": a male voice said soothingly.
As Agata looked back at Wolf, Wolf softly nodded his head. Agata ran to Wolf and hugged him tightly before walking and disappearing into the light. Wolf now stood alone on the misty field when the light slowly faded away and the landscape changed back to normal. When he opened his eyes again he noticed Aroa standing beside him. Wolf stood up and smelled Agata face, licking her dead body over her cheek.
"Did she pass?": Aroa asked whilst taking a last deep hit from her cigarette before crushing it beneath her shoe.
"She did.": Wolf said in a croaky voice.
"Good. In death they are reunited.": Aroa said with no expression on her face.
Wolf looked at her and sighed: "I feel water running down my eyes.. What is happening to me?"
"You are crying, dear Wolf.": Aroa said.
"There is no honor in killing an infant!": Wolf responded angerly with a hoarse sound
Aroa answered: "All things, great and small, die. The only true death is to never live. Those who run from live stood still in live."
"They race from us.": Wolf proclaimed.
"Only to find us sooner.": Aroa said.
"They know we'll come.": Wolf added.
"Yet they are never prepared.. Though all life ends.": Aroa explained.
