Second chances.

We all deserve a second chance. For some, it'll be a second chance at a relationship, or at a job.

However, what happens when you get a second chance at life?

Perhaps you would use the chance to make history, make yourself a legacy.

But if you ended up without a soulmate in your last life, maybe you would seek out your soulmate— if they were still alive, even.

But—  how would you go about seeking your soulmate..

If you were a mere piece of plastic or wax?

Upon waking up, Ahkmenrah felt like he was in a very tight enclosed area. Opening his eyes, he confirmed his thought.

But it wasn't that he was focused on—instead, he was focused on the sharp pain he felt in his chest.

What had happened to him, anyway?

Ahkmenrah began to wrack his brain—what had to have happened for him to feel this pain?

Unfortunately, he found nothing. Until—

His brother, Kahmunrah.

Brutally stabbing him, over and over.

How many times had the knife hit his chest? He couldn't seem to keep track.

But among the tragedy, Ahk was able to make out another memory—a memory that seemed to have haunted him throughout his life—or past life, if he didn't survive his brother, which was very likely.

He didn't have a soulmate.

It should've bothered him to a great extent—but for some reason, it relieved him. Ahkmenrah didn't understand why he was so bothered by it before. Now, he feels..free, in some sense of the word.

Ahk's nerves were on edge when he heard a noise—he wasn't the only one in the room?

He thought it was a tomb robber—but instead, he heard a familiar voice:

"Ahkmen? Shepseheret?"

It was the voice of his father.

"Father? Father!" Ahkmenrah winced when he heard himself speak; it echoed so loudly, the sound of his own voice threatened to deafen him.

"Ahkmen! It– it worked!"

Ahk was confused— what had worked?

"Pardon me, father, but—what, exactly, worked?" He voiced his thoughts.

"NOThing-" Merenkahre's voice cracked. He cleared his throat. "AHEM- Nothing, my dear boy. All you need to know is that we're here together by the magic of your tablet."

"Ah. At least I shall have you while I..brave this tomb. It's awfully close.."

—----------

Many years later, Ahk awoke in another strange case—it was a glass case this time, but still very uncomfortable nonetheless.

His family was nowhere to be found; Ahkmenrah was all alone.

It wouldn't matter, though, because after a while, Ahkmenrah moved once again.

It seemed as if the gods hated him— why did he have to be trapped in such small spaces?

At least last time he could see, but now? Now, he was back inside a tomb. No one ever came this time; all he could hear was the people outside (night guards?) making their rounds, never bothering to let Ahkmenrah out.
