In the beginning of time, the Skyfather created two children: Modir, the Goddess of Life, and Turm, the God of Ruin.

The Skyfather favored Modir, and as desperately as he tried, Turm could not gain his father's attention.

Out of jealousy, an idea occurred to Turm: if he could get rid of Modir, surely his father would notice him. He gifted his sister a black flower, telling her that if she were to plant it on herself, it would bloom.

None the wiser, she obliged, and the flower did bloom. However, from the flower, Tuon, the Goddess of Death was born, and the roots of the flower put Modir into a deep slumber.

Enraged by this, the Skyfather sealed Turm into the Great Depths to forever atone for his sin.

However, Turm did not intend to rest or to seek forgiveness. While the four daughters of Modir created the Giants, Turm created his own child: Rutt, the Plague Lord. Turm believed that if he could not feel happiness, no other being should feel happiness either.

Rutt created a curse that would spread disease all over the world. A wave of darkness that would spawn the first Plague Creatures, beings existing solely to cause death and ruin. That curse was the First Great Plague.

The Giants were almost entirely wiped out, however...

The four mortal races, the humans, elves, nakks, and mennins, were born.

Some time later a Second Great Plague would arise, but the mortal races would come to survive and prosper.

Now, the fear of a Third Great Plague looms in the air. Uncertainty plagues the minds of everyone, some feeling its effects more greatly than others.
