Matt helped me out of the car and I looked around. The door swung shut gently behind me as I tried to take in my surroundings all at once. My face scrunched up in confusion as I realized where we were.
“The library?” I questioned in disbelief, “You’ve got to be kidding me.” I looked Matt in the eye expecting to see a joking expression. His face held a smile but it was in no way joking.
“Trust me on this,” he said confidently. I swallowed hard and hoped for the best.
“I totally get to pick the next date,” I said half jokingly. I couldn’t help but wonder if there was going to be a second date after what a disastrously boring date this one would be. Nothing fun ever happened in stupid, old boring libraries. If I had chosen somewhere I would choose to go do something extravagant like go out to a fancy restaurant or go to an island for a day at the beach.
