"I don't need one," I replied.
"Go to your room, grab your shoes and a jacket" Jackson ordered. I saluted him.
"Sir yes sir!" I yelled as I ran out of his room. I grabbed a pair of sneakers and a blue hoodie. I met Jackson in the hall and told one of the nurses we were going for a quick. Walk around the hospital. she nodded and stepped aside. We ran outside and the cold humid air hit me. I took a few deep breaths of the fresh air. The grass smelled good from the rain. The sky was slightly dark and cloudy.
"I have something for you," Jackson said from behind me. I turned to face him. He had a piece of paper and a bag of gummy worms.
"Happy late birthday" He handed me the stuff. I unfolded the paper to reveal realistic drawings of every kind of flower. I smiled at him and tucked it away in my pocket.
"Thank you" I said while I wrapped my arms around him.
"Sorry it's late" He mumbled. I smiled at him.
"It's okay, you were really sick last week, I'm glad you're feeling better" I whispered. We pulled away from each other and I hit his arm.
"What's that for?" He asked.
"Tag!" I yelled while running away. He ran after me. I ran to the little kids playground and ran around it. We were both laughing our heads off. I put my hands up in surrender
"Okay, you win," I said out of breath. He smiled and sat on the swings.
"Remember when you got shot?" He asked. Jackson loved the stories I told.
"I remember. You weren't there" I stated, sitting on the swing next to him.
"Good thing conner was there"
"Camilo" I corrected him. I bit the inside of my cheek to distract me from crying. Whenever I thought about them I cried. I coughed once and stood up.
"I'm getting cold, can we go back inside?" I asked. Jackson looked up at me with questioning eyes but shrugged and followed me back inside. I fake yawned.
"I think I'm going to take a quick nap". Jackson nodded.
"Same, this crazy girl woke me up at a crazy hour" He looked at me for a second and then back at his door. "Want me to lay with you until you fall asleep?" He asked me. Jackson was the only one here when I arrived that would talk to me. I had panic attacks and woke up screaming constantly. One night when I had woken myself up and was sobbing my eyes out, Jackson had come into the room and asked me what was wrong. From that night on we always told each other everything so whenever I woke up with a nightmare he would come in and rub my back until I fell asleep. I shook my head slightly.
"No, I should be okay". Jackson nodded and went into his room. I turned to go into my room. When I was safely inside I let the tears fall down my face. I didn't belong here. I belonged in Encanto. I belonged with Camilo.
Camilo's POV
I woke up with tears running down my face. Again. I looked over to my side, still wishing y/n was here. It was her birthday last week, so I rolled over to look at the wrapped present I had made for her. I would clean her room weekly and watch the top of the mountain for her. Maybe she forgot. Maybe she forgot about me. I closed my eyes to wash away the thoughts.
Y/n's POV
Lunch. Mashed potatoes and beans.
"I would rather starve," I told Rose as I pushed the tray away. Rose sighed and shook her head.
"I still want to go swimming," I mumbled. Rose turned and smiled at me. She handed me a bag. I opened it slowly and pulled out a pale purple swimsuit.
"There's a small inside pool a few blocks away," She said while smiling at me. "But a nurse is going to watch you. And you can bring jackson" I quickly ran up and burst into jackson's room without knocking. Jackson was drawing something.
"Don't you know how to knock?" He asked.
"Rose said we can go swimming!" I yelled. I opened the bag and handed him a swimsuit.
"I'm going to be right back!" I yelled running back to my room to change.
The swimming pool was amazing. There was a slide and a diving board. All the lifeguards were inside though. I knew they could still see us but by time they got down here I would have drowned. There was a large model of a mountain in the middle of the pool with cold water running down. I grabbed Jackson's hand and pulled him behind the structure.
"What are we doing?" He asked.
"The lifeguards can't see us from here" I replied. Jackson shook his head but stayed with me anyway.
"He's looking right at us," Jackson whispered, looking past me. I turned around to see the lifeguard. My heart jumped to my throat.
"Good to see you y/n" Ryder said.
I grabbed onto Jackson's hand and pulled him out of the pool.
"That's Ryder?" Jackson asked when we were out of the pool waiting for our nurse. I nodded.
"Shit" He mumbled under his breath. I just shrugged my shoulders
"He was banished from Encanto, of course he came back to the city." I mumbled. Jckson didn't push me anymore. Of course Ryder walked out with our nurse.
"Ready to go kids?" She asked. I nodded my head quickly. I looped my arm with Jacksons and we left the pool.
Camilo's POV
I dug in the dirt and placed the seed down covering it back up. It was finally spring. The sun warmed my skin. Antonio was quietly pouring water over the seeds I had already planted. I wiped a bead of sweat off my forehead and stood up. I walked over to the mountain she had disappeared over about a year ago. I squinted my eyes to try and see anyone. Nobody. I sighed and left. I used to wait for hours, now it was only minutes. I opened Casita and went into my room. I was still getting over it, nobody questioned me, they left me be. I sighed as I played with her necklace. I wore it. I didn't care if it looked girly. She left it for me.
