Five - Continuation

"C'mere" I smile and pull at his arm to bring him closer

"What" he shrugs his shoulders at me. I smile and shake my head

"D- AH" Melo yells loudly and tries pulling away from me as I grab for his pocket

"Yea," I hold his five hidden cards up in the air for everyone to see "But you wasn't cheating huh?"

"You can't dig in my pockets. There needs to be a rule against that" Melo tries arguing

"Nah, but there is a rule about cheating" I emphasize the word and narrow my eyes at him

"That don't concern me. I feel violated," Melo tries to suppress a smile but fails miserably "I'm pressing charges"

"With who? The UNO police? They should arrest yo cheatin ass, now sit down cause I'm bout to win" Gelo motions for him to sit down. Jelly twists on her chair beside me before laughing quietly into my shoulder

"Gelo, you got the whole damn deck in yo hand, you not winning any time soon" Zo smiles and shakes his head

Gelo glances down at his hand full of cards "I'm still a winner at heart"

"Corny ass," Melo sits back down next to me. His thigh rests closely next to mine so I can feel his warmth

I move my leg over to cross on top my other, giving Melo enough space to sit comfortably

Melo looks down at me and nods "You good"

"Wait how long have y'all been dating?" Evoni looks between Melo and I questionably

I look to Melo for an answer

"What you worried bout it fo?" he asks

"I'm just so shook that I've never met her before, and y'all seem so-...," she pauses to weigh her word options "fresh"

"That's what I was thinking" Jhay nods in agreement "But then yall act like comfortable and uncomfortable with each other at the same time"

"Don't worry about it" Melo picks up his phone and scrolls through it

"I'm still stuck on her rejecting him in high school" Zo laughs. Gelo joins in on the laugh

Evoni's eyes never leave Melo and I, her left eyebrow stays perched on her forehead in a suspicious look

"Stop looking at my girlfriend like that, Evoni" Melo speaks up but keeps his eyes glued on his screen

"I'm just saying"

"Don't. All up in my nuts, worry bout yo niggas"

My phone dings

Hey darling, I know it's late so I'm
asuming you'll see this text in the morning.
I was wondering if you and Melo could come
up here soon? I need you to do a shoot and
want to get to know Melo. maybe yall can get
to know each other better out here, without
distractions?

You don't have to bring him, but I need you
here by the sixth so we can get you fittted for
the shoot on the seventh

I sigh "Do you wanna come to Manhattan with me tomorrow? My mom wants us to go out there for business and other stuff"
