“Ready?” Emery asks as I meet him by my car in the parking lot. I nod and unlock the drivers door and then unlock the passengers. “you guys weren’t that bad, if that helps,” Emery says as he throws my lacrosse bag in the back. “so I was talking to Silver, I didn’t know her and Chance have a thing?”

I laugh. “Yeah ever since freshman year. They wont admit to anything but its totally obvious.”

“Especially when she’s wearing his number…” Emery lifts an eyebrow. I nod and chuckle.

“Very true. So Emery?” he just nods. “I heard you on the phone the other night…..”

“Shit I was that loud?”

I chuckle and nod. “But um I heard you talking about a school dance coming up in your old school?” I wonder.

“Yeah its next weekend.”

I nod and quickly look over at him. “Are you going?”

“I don’t know yet, why?”

I shrug. “I’m just wondering.”

“Oh okay.”

“How are you and Cara?”

“How are you and Noah?” Emery asks back.

I shake my head. “Touché but we’re good.”

“And Cara and I are just fine.” I pull into the driveway and take the keys out and grab my bag in the back. I open the door and shut it then follow Emery into the house. The house was quiet as mom and dad were working late tonight, it was so unlike this house. And Cade and the guys wont be here tonight knowing we just lost the game tonight, so I guess its just going to be Emery and I tonight.

So much joy.

I groan and grab my tight, aching stomach.

“Emery!” I cry out for the fourth time. “Emery!” I yell through the tears. I’m telling you my stomach was hurting that bad. I grip my comfort and let the tears flow out, my stomach felt so tight and it literally felt like my stomach was sinking in. It started a little after 12 o’clock but now it was 1 in the morning and I was literally dying, my crutches are across the room and I don’t have that much energy to hop to them.

“What?” Emery groggily says as he opens my bedroom door, his hair was everywhere and he looked tired.

“My stomach hurts,” I force out.

Emery sighs and rubs his eyes as he walks over to me. “Want to try some medicine?” he asks and I nod.

“Its behind the mirror in my bathroom.” Emery nods then walks into my bathroom. A couple seconds later I hear the sink running and Emery is walking back into my room.

“Why do you have your lights on?” he asks when he hands two pills to me and a plastic cup. I take the water and pill.

“Because I couldn’t fall asleep,” I explain. I tightly close my eyes shut and wait for the pain to go away but it seems like the more I wait the worst the pain gets. “it really hurts.”

“Have you tried a heating pad?” I shake my head. “do you have one?” I nod. “where?”

“Under the sink.” I force myself to sit up and lean my back against the wall behind me.

“Here,” I open my eyes and grab the heating pad and put it on my stomach. “are you on your period or something?” Emery questions. I shake my head and press the heating pad tighter to my stomach.
