Chapter 5 : "I'm sorry"

Start from the beginning

"I didn't know you were there."

He was embarrassed.

Good.

"You saw me. We looked right at each other." I said.

"Okay well I didn't know you were gonna be there alright!" he said, with frustration in his voice.

I looked away from him, annoyed with what he had to say.

"That not an excuse." I said.

Then, the bell rang. I grabbed my stuff and got out of there as soon as possible.

-

During lunch, me and Kenny were talking about Anthony and what he had said to me during class.

Lia was talking to her other friends at the moment.

"Let me be clear. You're not actually gonna be friends with this kid, right?" asked Kenny.

"I don't know, Kenny." I said.

I looked back at Anthony and his friends. Anthony still looked sort of embarrassed, and sorta miserable. But he didn't see me looking at him.

"Look, I don't know if it's his friend that make him act like this, but it kind of seems like Zack bosses him around, You know?" I said.

"Yeah, but that's not an excuse to bully the knew kid." Kenny said.

"I know Kenny, but what if he's just trying to fit in."

"That's bullshit."

I just continued eating.

Then, Kenny made a gesture, telling me to look behind me.

All of Anthony's friends were looking at me.

One of them made a head nod to me, basically saying 'hey.'

I rolled my eyes and looked away.

Then, Kenny tapped me and made a gesture for me to look back again.

I was getting frustrated with them.

I looked back.

Zack made a hand wave, telling me to go over there.

Kenny said "Go over there, maybe they have something good to say for once."

That made me giggle.

I got up and walked over to them.

"What do you want?" I asked.

"Just sit, lady." said Zack.

"Listen, I'm not one of your little friends, so please don't talk to me like that." I said.

"Damn, chill." said another guy.

I rolled my eyes and sat.

"What do you want?" I asked again, annoyed.

"Anthony has something he wants to say." said Zack.

I looked over to Anthony.

He looked embarrassed.

"What?" I said, with no expression in my voice.

"I, uh.." he said, glancing at his friends.

"Well? Tell her dude!" said Zack.

"Can you stop bossing him around?" I asked.

"What?" he said.

"What is he, your little pet? Let him speak for himself." I said again.

"Alright, alright. Geez." said Zack.

I looked back at Anthony. He still looked embarrassed.

"I-" Anthony began to say, until he stopped.

"Hm?" I said.

He sighed.

"I'm sorry for what I did at the park the other day, that was terrible. And I'm hoping me and you can start over." he said.

It kind of sounded like he meant it, but I'm not sure if it was just his friends that made him say it.

It seems like they like me or something, because they are always telling me to hang out with them during school.

"Yeah, alright. We can start over." I said, grinning.

He smiled.

"Thanks." he said, with relief in his voice.

I smiled back.

"Cya!" I said, getting up.

"Yeah, bye!" said Anthony.

I walked back over to my table.

"So what did they have to say?" asked Kenny.

"Well.. Anthony apologized." I said.

"Really?" asked Kenny, in disbelief.

"Yeah, he actually sounded like he meant it too!" I said.

"Wait.. So he apologizes to you, but not to me?"

I just sighed.

"That's bullshit!" said Kenny.

I actually felt bad for Kenny. He was the new kid with 2 friends, and he's being bullied by the popular kids.

"Just be patient. Maybe they'll apologize to you soon too." I said.

"Yeah, alright." said Kenny.
