Cragan awoke to the loud clanging of metal and explosions. Cragan sat up and looked furiously, at what laid before him. Men swinging swords and stabbing with pole arms, awhile balls of fire and stones flew about. Cragan didn’t feel scared but he almost felt glad for some reason.
“Beautiful, is it not?” A deep voice sounded behind him.
Cragan leaped up from his position and pivoted on his right foot to face the source of the voice. The gasp that left Cragan’s lips made the huge man smile. This man wore armor, that the gauntlet alone seemed to weigh more than Cragan.
“Yes, I know but thankfully I do not grow anymore. This is one benefit the horseman War has, though I was I wasn’t bigger than a small house, people think I am a mean person, just because I am so large.” The man sighing.
“The Horseman… big as a house… war… what are you talking about!?” Cragan said exasperated.
“Sorry, I forgot how little the new Spirit of War knew.”
“Spirit of War, what in hell are you talking about!?”Cragan yelled
“Oh no, have you read that book you mortals call the Bible?”The man questioned
“No, not heavily religious even though my mom is.”
“well do you know what the four horsemen are?”
“kinda, Conquest, War, Famine, and Death right?” Cragan answered
“ok, while the Bible doesn’t show the whole picture and gives most of our stories wrong , that way people cannot pick us out in public, the four horsemen exist”
“Bullshit” Cragan said as he ducked as a stray arrow flew over his head.
The man looked at him as if he was insane. He took off his gauntlet and showed Cragan runes that seem to be etched in fire.
‘Ye think the horsemen are bullshit? well watch for yerself” The man sounded angry, and Cragan was afraid of what he might do. The man gently brushed his fingers on one rune that layed on his palm, suddenly a flame shot up in his right hand and a sword appeared.
“later this sword will be etched in fire but I'm the second youngest Spirit of War.”
“who is the first?” Cragan asked
“you” War announced
Cragan looked at the man as if he was crazy and suddenly Cragan fell to the ground clutching his head in pain. War was flooding Cragan’s head with ages of War and anything remotely violent.
“STOP IT! PLEASE!!! ARGH!!” Cragan bellowed.
“can’t, It will help you I assure you” War said calmly
When it was over Cragan discovered a etched drawing on his palm, it matched the samed one the man had.
“what is this?” Cragan said as he finally started to accept the fact the horsemen existed.
“A rune, you have many more, trust me.”War answered
“Many more? I don’t even know what this one does.” Cragan looked bewildered
War gestured to the sword in his hand then at the mark, as if it was obvious, and why he had asked when he had just showed him.
Crangan laid his right fingers on the mark and up shot a flame out of thin air, War gestured to grab it, and when Cragan’s hand closed upon the rod of flame a sword appeared, plain but effective. Cragan’s first thought when he grabbed it, was why it felt normal, as if it was apart of him.
“The feeling is odd at first but you will get use to it” War said as his own sword vanished.
“ It doesn’t feel odd it feels … normal”
“really? thats new, but then again each Spirit has a different lifestyle” War said as he turned back and looked at the battle was taking place.
“oh, and I suppose you want to know who the other horsemen are, you have already met two of them, that girl that helped you escaped and that girl that tried to take yer wallet, OH I forgot don’t give her a hard time, she is a nice girl, truly”
At that Cragan looked around for some doorway to walk out of this crazy dream.
“oh yea don’t feel angry, but…” War said as he pivoted suddenly and his fist flew to Cragan’s head, knocking him out cold.
Gasping for breath, Cragan sat up at off cold, hard asphalt, to find Ashley sitting across from him, looking upon him worriedly, and behind her was about 30 or so dead cops.
“Your awake! are you alright? I didn’t mean to do this! I don’t even know what I did, oh god, what have I done!!??” Ashley said as she flew over to him making sure he was alright.
Grabbing her hand as it hovered to touch the mark on his palm, he said calmly “sit, you are never going to believe this, but I need you to.”
