Alma and the triplets were sitting at the dining table eating breakfast. She was giving each of her children a new task to keep them busy. Since they weren't permitted to go to school she had to find new ways to keep them busy.
Pepa had been sent to tend to the crops even though there was nothing for her to do. There were plenty of farmers and none of them wanted the assistance of a 13 year old that could destroy the crops in a matter of seconds. Instead of wasting her time standing around Pepa had decided to walk into the forest to keep busy.
It was peaceful to her being surrounded by something that wouldn't get mad at her for making it rain. Pepa had longed for a human to be as kind as the butterflies and ladybugs that would sit with her when she made it rain.
Whilst enjoying the little time of peace she had, she heard the snap of a branch jolting her to reality. She looked around before hearing someone behind her, turning to see a boy around her age looking at her with sympathy
"Hey, are you ok?"
"Yea I'm just enjoying the forest."
"It is quite nice."
The boy came and sat on the rock next to her
"I'm Felix by the way"
"I'm Pepa"
"That's a pretty name."
The boy said it with such a smile it made Pepa feel something new to her but pushed it aside
"Thank you"
"If you don't mind me asking, why have I never seen you at school before?"
"Well the principal is scared that having magical kids in the school would be too much of a distraction and Mama would rather us do work instead."
"Magical?"
"Yea, I'm Pepa, Pepa Madrigal."
"Wait really?"
"Yea, I mean how many people can drench themselves by causing a rain cloud over their head?"
Pepa points to her clothes which were indeed drenched
"True. But in that case, what were you crying about? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."
"Well it's Mama always..."
Pepa begins to explain how Alma and the villagers treat her and how it makes her feel terrible. And rather than running away, Felix stays, just listening and when she said something like 'I don't know how to make the villagers treat me nicer' or 'Mama just hates me I'm sure' he would reassure her that she was amazing the way she was. Through all of this Pepa had began to cry causing it to rain
"Oh gosh, I'm sorry."
She began to mutter her mother's phrase 'clear skies, clear skies'
"It's ok, you have a right to cry and be upset and you shouldn't have to deal with your emotions alone."
"But you'll get just as wet as me."
"Well I like the rain so I don't mind, now would you like to continue?"
Those two stayed there until the sun was going down. Even after Pepa had stopped talking they just sat side by side, enjoying each other's company. That same feeling from before came back to Pepa and she still couldn't tell which emotion it was but kept her composure out of fear of making it rain or even worse.
"We should probably get going so we can both be back in our homes by dinner."
"Good idea."
They begin to walk out of the forest and at some point she realised that she was holding hands with the boy, but he didn't pull away so neither did she. Still wondering what emotion this was, it made her think of the way her sister looked at some new city boy in town and wonder, is this the same thing? They ended up back on the path way, one way leading to the village and the other way leading to Casita.

Love? I've never heard of that before
FantasyUntil the age of 13, Pepa was only permitted to feel any other emotions unless it was what the villagers asked of her. The damage was so severe that it took meeting her future husband and unknowingly falling in love, to realise that.
