Prølōūgë

"Daddy, Daddy!" Aezalia squealed. The young girl ran over to her father and hid behind his wooden chair.

"What on Earth are you doing?" he laughed.

"Hide me!" she giggled.

"From who?"

"Bilbo of course! He's trying to get me!"

"Come here."

Aezalia crawled into her father's lap while he whispered something into her ear. What ever he had told her caused the girl to go into a fit of giggles and she nodded her head while saying, "Okay." with a smile on her petite face.

"Lia!" someone called from farther in the trees.

"Hurry." her father told her and scooted her off of his lap. She raced over to her mother, who was talking to several other women about how the Proudfoots were dwindling in number, pulled up her skirt and ducked underneath the fabrics.

"Aezalia Rose, what are you doing under my dress?!" her mother demanded. She seemed angry on the outside but her mother was a kind woman and on the inside she was laughing for laughter glinted in her eyes.

Aezalia poked her head out from under her mother's dress and quickly told her, "I'm hiding from Bilbo, Mummy. Daddy told me to hide under you."

"Well, since you're hiding from Bilbo Baggins stay there as long as you need."

"Really?" she asked.

"No. Now get out of my dress and find another hiding spot." she instructed her daughter while gently nudging her with her bare foot.

Aezalia rolled out from her mother's dress and ran into the woods surrounding the clearing. She could hear the small trickle of water telling her she was approaching the crystal clear stream that she had found a few weeks ago. As she was about to step foot into the water when another force drove her to the side and knocked her down.

"You're it!" a young boy squealed in delight.

"That's not fair! I was on my side!"

Bilbo gave her a look that told her all she needed to know. He then looked down to where she was laying and then to the other side of the stream.

"Fine, you win." she pouted and crossed her arms.

"I always win." Bilbo boasted. He puffed his chest out and placed his hands on his hips like he had just conquered a mighty foe.

"Do not!" Aezalia argued.

"Do to!" Bilbo fought back.

"One more game and I'll prove to you I can win." Aezalia challenged.

Bilbo thought about that for a while and then said, "Instead, how 'bout we go on an adventure?"

Aezalia couldn't pass up that opportunity and quickly agreed.

They played for hours, going on adventures, and would travel to different places everyday. Soon, they got older though and slowly stopped going on adventures.

Ten Years Later

"Catch me if you can Slow Poke!" Aezalia called from over her shoulder.

"Wait up!" Bilbo puffed behind her. Hesitantly she stopped to let the hobbit catch up to her.

"What happened to you Bilbo? You used to be one of the fastest boys your age."

"I'm not sure." he gulped. Sweat dripped off his face and he bent over his knees to try and catch his breathe.

"I know, it's called eating a lot of food. I understand eating at all the meals but not so much that your stuffed." she teased.

"I do not eat too much." Bilbo argued.

"Stand up straight for me." she tried to keep her face serious but it was hard not to smile. "What's that?" she asked, horrified, she pointed to his belly.

"What's what?" he looked down at his shirt to see if anything was stuck to him. "I don't see anything."

"I believe there must be something in your belly." she laughed.

Bilbo just looked at her with a serious face but then, ever so slightly, a smile spread across his face. "I do not eat too much! In fact, I'm not nearly as large as some of the other hobbits."

"Suit yourself." she looked over her shoulder and then said, "Come on, we're almost there!"

The rest of the way they walked side by side until they reached the grassy cliff. They watched as the sun slowly began to sink in the sky and turned the sky pink.

"Remember when we used to go on adventures Bilbo?" she asked suddenly.

"I do. I may be a Baggins but I think it would be great fun to actually leave the Shire one of these days." he said while watching the sun as it began to lick the first hill.

"You wouldn't leave with out me would you?" she asked facing him. He felt her eyes on him and he slowly turned towards her and wrapped his arms around her waist.

"I wouldn't dream of leaving you behind." he whispered.

----------So there's some background information on both Bilbo and Aezalia. I hope you liked it!(I just realised I always say that). I'm still thinking on how to start chapter one but I'm getting ideas on what to do.-----------
