Y/N POV

The walk was filled with silence as I approached the fire lord's throne room. I opened the door to be met with the face of my mother, Fire Lord Izumi. An awkward silence settled itself between us as I bowed in respect.

"I thought about your request to help with the matters in republic city," I opened my mouth to speak but she raised a hand interrupting me. "I have decided that you can help, under the conditions that you stay with Tenzin with his family and the white lotus guards on Air Temple Island."

Those words filled me with excitement as I stood up and bowed again. "Thank you, mother!" I turned and left towards the doors in a hurry. "Oh, and (Y/N)," I turned again. "Stay safe out there." She gave me smile and once again I was on my way out.

After packing my things I decided to see my grandfather before my departure. I walked through the palace to the place he loved the most, the turtleduck pond. Sure enough there he was feeding them pieces of bread.

"Ah (Y/N) its a pleasure to see you today, of course," He said with a smile.

"Did you hear grandfather, mother is letting me help in republic city." He seemed happy, but he also seemed concerned with that sentence.

This is how things normally are within the palace, I know my family loves me, but I also know that they're scared of me. I was born with great firebending skills, mimicking that of my great-aunt Azula. The same blue flames that had terrorized my grandfather and his friends on their journey to save the world, I had been blessed with. Well, more like cursed with. Ever since I had begun to train in hopes of becoming a great firebender, my mother and her father had always been very wary of me. I couldn't blame them either, not with what had happened years ago. Nevertheless, I've spent my life trying to squash their fears, and hopefully my trip to Republic City will prove that I, Princess (Y/N) of the Fire Nation am not someone to be feared.

I felt arms wrap around me, "(Y/N), I hope that this trip will fill you with wisdom and bring honor to our family."

"Oh grandfather you and your honor, I promise to be on my best behavior," He chuckled and released me from his hold.

He then looked at me with a very serous look, "Remember use your bending with a calm mind, never let your emotions control your bending."

I sighed, "Yes grandfather. I'm leaving now, I'll see you guys as soon as I return home."

I then left to catch my ship, I grabbed my thing from my room and left. Upon reaching the ship a few servants offered to carry my things. I complied and made my way to the deck of the ship.

"Princess (Y/N), everything is prepared we can leave as soon as you give the word." the captain said approaching me bowing in respect. "Yes sir, let the crew know that we are leaving for republic city immediately." He nodded and left. This was it, as I looked towards the ocean I could feel determination flowing through me. My journey had begun.

A few days had passed and I was on a spot on the deck meditating. I could hear footsteps approaching me. "Princess (Y/N), we will be docking on Air Temple Island in 20 minutes."

I sighed and got up from my spot "Have the servants make sure all my things are ready." The servant replied with a "Yes, your highness," and left in a hurry. There it was in the distance, the grand Republic City. For some it was a home they had grown up in, a place of refuge for others, but for me it was a fresh start without my past mistakes, and I couldn't wait to get started.
