Yes you can get sun burns with your clothes still on, its HEAT

'Goddamn, I wonder why Summers here are so hot.' Flippy trudged around the park in the summer heat, looking for a nearby tree while cursing at his previous decision to take a walk. There weren't many trees to come by, only in coincidences during people being injured were they needed. It wouldn't make a difference with the thick air regardless. Flippy groaned, attempting to pick up his pace but ended up more desperate for something, anything to block the sun. He fiddled with his sleeves, then realized. 'What am I even doing? I'm wearing a long sleeve  while taking a jog.' He furrowed his eyebrows at himself and stopped in his tracks, quickly reaching for his buttons. But the touch pierced his skin. Wow. He took his hat off and tried lifting from the back, but his head denied the exit. All the struggle was making his situation worse as he pulled with frustration. "Ughhgg.." Flippy whined, only pulling harder. The sun was close to boiling his brains out under his soft clothing and he had nothing left to do. After the eventual give up, he started to panic, and reached for his knife. It had stung him too as his hand jerked out of his pocket. "What the fuck!" It hurt worse that time. His survival instincts were kicking in. He knew there was nothing he could do but keep walking which would end in a heat stroke. Along with a high chance of death, nobody else would be out here. 'Okay then, I'll just keep walking, it'll be fine, totally doesn't remind me of that one time I camped outside at war and slept in too long in the heat and almost died from it causing Fliqpy to switch and endure the pain long enough to find medics but then killed them and stole their car.' Flippy hit the floor, feeling a second of agonizing pain as his skin cooked against the concrete, and passed out.

The pestering sounds of thin but sharp plastic clashing against each other made Flippy flinch as he woke, his vision blurred as he rubbed his eyes, arms feeling sore. He blinked countless times, focusing to find the exhibit of the noise. "Hey Flippy!" An eccentric voice spoke, along with another plastic wrapper sound. "What's that noise? Quit it." Flippy eagerly tried shushing whoever it was, still being occupied with his scarce vision. "You're in MY house dude." 'What.' He sat up, the feeling of his tight skin rubbing against itself made him gasp and pause in shock. "What do you think you're doing? Don't move." Whoever it was had sternly gripped Flippy's shoulder, only causing more pain. "Agh!" He squeezed his eyes shut as agony coursed through his vulnerable body. Though his vision had finally been healed from sleepiness after the touch. And he eyed Splendid. He pushed the hand away from his shoulder, making a small whining noise. "Woah, sorry." Splendid had backed away a little, leaving flippy to carefully inch his way to a comfortable sitting position. His skin felt like spikes and thorns punishing him for his every move. He winced and looked around, not being familiar with why his presence was here, he thought he would've actually died. Before asking any reasonable questions, he decided to blurt out "Now what was that noise?" He confusingly looked at the other in the room, who lifted up his half taken out popsicle. "Did you want one? I figured why not since it was so hot outside." Flippy glanced at the popsicle, then stared at his legs. "I'm good, thanks. What happened anyways? After I passed out I mean, unless that didn't happen." He had no problem second guessing himself about what occurred, he would've even believed Fliqpy had switched with the short amount of time he had left. "Not sure, but I was flying around to help a few critters and spotted you in the park. You were passed out and covered in burns so I brought you in, as a hero like me is expected to." Splendid smirked, having a large suck of his treat. "Thanks Splendid, I really would've died without you. If there's anything I can do, I'll try to repay you however you need." Flippy had quickly relaxed, and smiled at his now closer friend. "There's not much you could do for someone like me, it's my job to help citizens." He nodded, feeling a little ashamed he couldn't do anything in such a grateful state. He was sure Splendid would  appreciate some kind of gesture, even if it meant being a helper in battle.  "Unless hanging out is considered an option." Splendid said after a few seconds of thinking. Spending time with a superhero everyone adores instead of doing something equal in return.. "Fine, I'll spend as much time as you want me to with you." "Alright!" The superhero ran out of the room, then came back in a quick second with his living room chair above his head. He placed it firmly next to the bed and hopped over the side to sit down. He immidiately melted into the fabric. "I haven't hanged with someone in a while." Flippy tried starting the conversation right after the other had gotten comfortable, he didn't wanna bore his hero. "Me neither, I like laying here where it's comfy." "Really? You don't socialize with fans, or friends?" "Nah, it's already too much work saving the town, don't need it." Splendid grinned. "Then why are we talking right now? Wouldn't you prefer having alone time? Not that I don't enjoy talking to you." Flippy met the other's eyes during the last sentence, curious about his feelings. "I dunno, I can relate to you more. It'd be easier if I hung out with someone who can protect themselves anyways, you being a veteran and all." "I couldn't protect myself from the heat." "Heat schmeat, you're still strong, it gave me a great opportunity to talk  with you." "Thank you for thinking about me like that." Flippy didn't receive praise very often, either that or he didn't notice it like right now. "No problem. Hey, usually I don't ask people why they were doing what or how it happened, but how were you injured?" "Oh. I mean I know I'll sound stupid, I was just taking a walk. Nobody else was outside so I kinda thought fuck it." "And you almost burned to death?" "Yeah basically, sorry if it was a hassle for you to do something like this over something so dumb. Especially since you had to fly me here in the heat." "It's no big deal, and I don't get overheated, or cold. I'm a powerful superhero, remember?" "I didn't know you were resistant to that, it must be pretty cool to have a ton of different abilities." "I guess, but the more I know how powerful I am, the more obligated I feel to use them. It's not everyday you see someone flying through the sky y'know. Sometimes I can't even do it right or I end up not caring. Is that bad?" The mood suddenly shifted, he realized he might've said too much, and glanced at Flippy to see his reaction. "No, stuff will happen whether you're here or not, your power doesn't exist just to be used for helping people other than yourself." "Did you not expect me to come rescue you?" "With no offense I've already said I thought I'd die. If I did get saved I would've guessed it was from some shade or another person walking by." He smiled at the soldier's logic, being filled with glee from their understanding. It was what he's been wanting to hear for a while. The stress and guilt of his mishaps sunk a little into his words. "You really believe that?" He swiftly scooted his chair, leaning more  towards Flippy. "Of course, something like that doesn't define how great you are." Splendid smiled harder, his vision altering. He didn't know the slightest of words by his friend could change the air this much. "Shit, I'm sorry for making you cry. Did I say something bad? It was just how I felt at the moment." Flippy fully sat up to get closer to Splendid, ignoring the pain and reached his hand out. "Stop moving, you said nothing wrong, I just haven't been this happy talking with anyone before.." He paused, and roughly wiped his face with his bare arms. Flippy didn't know what to do, he didn't know whether he had actually said something bad or not. He's never seen the hero so sensitive, or maybe he's always been like that. Splendid surprisingly felt a pair of gentle arms grasp his body, and a shoulder to rest his leaking head onto. Scared of hurting the other any more than he already was, he accepted the hug and closed his eyes. He let his own arm fall onto the chair and enjoyed the touch. Letting out a hard exhale, light tears began bleeding through the fabric to sting his friend's skin. He had felt a bit of shame making the only person who's made him his happiest in a while be forced to hear him.
