It has been about 15 minutes since I've gotten home and I've been sitting on the porch enjoying the cold air. I took the joint from between my lips with only my thumb and pointer finger, Becuase it was so small. I then threw it onto the wooden floor and stepped on it, exhaling the smoke I had been holding in my lungs. I tiptoed into the house cautiously. I haven't spoken or seen my dad since we got into that argument.
So I made my way down the hall and into his room where I saw Him fast asleep.
"Dad?" I whispered. No response.
I took my shose and jacket off before crawling into bed with him. It had been a long time since I've slept in the same bed with my dad. I rolled onto my side to face him.
"Dad?" I whispered again. His eyes fluttered open and yawned.
"I'm sorry" My voice broke a little.
"I'm sorry too" he said. I chewed on my lip, a habit I got from my dad.
"I didn't mean to worry you" I say as tears started brimming my eyes.
"I know you didn't. I'm sorry I yelled" he tucked a piece of hair that fell informer of my face, behind my ears, making me break down into quiet sorts.
"get some sleep, I love you"
"Love you to, dad"
He kissed the top of my head before I closed my eyes, not even bothering changing. I almost immediately fell asleep.
